Anne | Recruiting
What I do:
I manage a team of Executive recruiters that fill critical business and operations positions at the director level and above.
How I make a difference:
I manage the resources of my team to fill positions on a timely basis. I also problem solve for the recruiters on my team to make it easier for them to do their jobs so that they can respond quickly to their hiring managers. The positions we fill with the top talent in the market, enables UnitedHealth Group to accomplish our mission of helping people live healthier lives.
Why my job is great:
I get to work for one of the best companies in the industry with very talented, smart, and compassionate colleagues. There's never a dull moment. I'm continually challenged and learn something new everyday!
The challenges of my job:
The challenge of my job is to constantly juggle the resources available to me so that we can fill positions as quickly as possible but not overwhelm the recruiters. It's also a challenge to keep abreast of all of the changes that occur in a very complex organization.
How I impact my community:
I impact my community indirectly by managing a team of recruiters who hire new employees that have been actively involved in the community and will now represent UnitedHealth Group. I also volunteer to work at our church, my children’s schools, and work-sponsored opportunities.
What makes this a greater place to work:
In my role as a manager, I can influence more people than I could as an individual contributor.
What’s great about me:
I truly care about the people I manage, the business partners we support and my colleagues in general. My team has complimented me on my ability to help them remove roadblocks, problem solve and listen to their ideas and challenges. For the most part I have a positive attitude and focus on what we can do to resolve problems rather than dwelling on who caused the problem.
Little known fact about me:
I have passed the “Ground School” portion of my private pilots license and have soloed on a couple of occasions in a Cessna150. Juggling working and children have “grounded” further efforts to obtain my license.
Words I live by:
Before I take on a new seemingly impossible challenge I remember a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt; “You can gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face”…and say “I can do this!”
