UnitedHealth Group’s annual nationwide giving campaign solicits employee donations to community charities of their choice. Employee pledges and the company-matching pledge totaled $15.5 million for 2011, our highest amount to date, up 11 percent over 2010.

Our employees volunteered more than 381,000 hours of  their time to community projects in 2010.

UnitedHealth Group earned a top rating of 100% on the 2011 Corporate Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign.

The company’s “United Minnesota” initiative is a 10-year, $100 million philanthropic program to create sustainable improvements in health, education and well-being in Minnesota. Among other activities in 2010, UnitedHealthcare contributed $17.5 million to enhance trauma care for children across the region by supporting the creation of a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

We've committed $1.95 million over three years to the American Heart Association to help establish walking paths throughout the country.

The UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation provided nearly 790 grants to families in 2010, worth an estimated $2.6 million, to assist children with medical services not covered by commercial benefit plans.

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services awarded a 2011 Healthy Living Innovation Award to the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, created in partnership with UnitedHealth Group and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Since 1999, the United Health Foundation provided more than $193 million in charitable contributions and community relations support to the communities where we live and work.

At UnitedHealth Group, we live our mission to help people live healthier lives. The partnership will promote early identification and support for children who are at risk of overweight and obesity.
