Michael | Financial Analyst
What I do:
I’m a Financial Analyst for the Association Business in OptumHealth – Specialty Benefits.
How I make a difference:
I help people live healthier lives by ensuring that the numbers are correct.
Why my job is great:
I have a great boss and co-workers. I also get to finally use my skills I learned at school, as I’m a recent college graduate.
The challenges of my job:
Right now, learning the health care business. Also, understanding the flow of data within our finance department.
How I impact my community:
I’ve recently volunteered for Feed my Starving Children. I helped by packing food for children throughout the world that don’t have enough money to even afford food for themselves or their children. I also have recently volunteered at Common Bond Communities. This is an organization that provides after-school enrichment for children and teenagers that are recent immigrants. I helped students with a variety of things. This would include helping the younger children read and practice math, and helping older students apply for college and scholarships.
What’s great about me:
I try to do my best work on the job, while making sure that I’m always having fun while doing so. I always try to help people out and accomplish team goals to the best of my ability. I try to listen to everyone’s ideas on the team while coming up with my own concepts on how to go about business. I know this sounds cliché, but I'm always trying to think “outside the box” and come up with different ways to go about business and life.
Little known fact about me:
I have a twin brother that looks and acts the opposite of me.
Words I live by:
“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail”
What I’d say to a potential candidate:
Working for UnitedHealth Group is great for anyone’s career.
