The Strategic Account Executive (Ancillary Benefits) performs a variety of account management functions related to the continued growth, profitability and retention of quality business and development of solid relationships with key producers.
- Participate actively in the renewal process including profiling the group, utilization review and interpretation, preparing and presenting reliable and defensible renewal proposals and negotiating with underwriting and key external stakeholders including consultants, brokers and clients.
- Develop and maintain thorough working knowledge of established rating, quoting and procedure guidelines to ensure the necessary uniformity and consistency in completing account management activities and meeting accountabilities.
- Perform customer service responsibilities including, but not limited to, information correspondence with clients and producers, communications with home office staff in answering questions, negotiating rates or providing case information, expedition materials (i.e. applications, disclosures, etc.) needed to manage the established book of business and gathering reliable data for proper underwriting.
- Add value to sales and account management process by coordinating telephone discussions, face-to-face meetings, scheduling quarterly and annual meetings and preparing/distributing account reports, as requested.
- Develop solid working relationships with producers to assist in up sell opportunities in partnership with sales staff
- Responsible for account management across a specific region. Create and support the implementation of strategic business plans for assigned region
- Support and participate in sales presentations and processes
- Responsible for training and updating information related to customers across UnitedHeathcare Specialty Benefits
- Measure and report on persistency rates and issues associated with assigned book of business
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a business-related field strongly preferred
- Dental, Vision, Life, Disability and/or Critical Illness insurance experience and ancillary product knowledge strongly preferred
- 5+ years of Account Management experience managing and renewing a book of business for ancillary or medical products required
- 5+ years of experience developing strong relationships with key client/broker decision-makers required
- 5+ years of experience working in partnership with claims, marketing and customer service required
- 5+ years of experience utilizing MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
- 5+ years of ability to deliver high level of customer service and proven track record of following through with assignments required
- 5+ years of experience handling complex and difficult accounts required
- 5+ years of data analytics experience required
- New York and/or New Jersey Life and Health insurance license(s) and valid Drivers License must be maintained.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time required depending on the time of the year
