Job Description:

 

As a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) working with our systems administration middleware group, you will be a core contributor to the development of enterprise web applications as part of a cross-functional agile team of Architects, Developers, QA and Operations personnel. The DBA will be responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance and production monitoring of database instances and associated software tools. The individual will also provide assistance and consultation to other infrastructure staff. Although this position is specifically related to DB2, additional experience with other platforms is highly desirable.
 
Specific Responsibilities include:
  • Design and implementation of relational databases at an enterprise level
  • Lead DB Schema and architectural designs
  • Provide expertise related to DB performance, HA, and scalability
  • DR Planning and execution in HA environments
  • Experience with Object Relational Modeling System such as Hibernate or JPA
  • Physical database design and tuning
  • Bulk loading of source data and source data conditioning
  • Database security and diagnostic maintenance
  • Logical-to-physical data model engineering
  • Capacity planning of database.
  • Distributed database management and control
  • Database user security and permissions
  • Database automation through scripting and stored procedures
  • Evaluation and utilization of software products to assist in the management of data
  • Planning, installation, and maintenance of DBMS software
  • Support/recommend reporting, query and analysis tools ensuring efficient database access
  • Diagnosis of problems and resolution for application software
  • Measurement of DBMS performance and tuning; diagnosis of problems
  • Modification of system-level configuration to optimize performance
  • Interface with developers for performance and data access requirements
  • Development of standards and procedures for the DBMS environment
  • Consultation with system administrator regarding O/S - DBMS requirements
  • Maintenance of physical integrity of all production databases
  • Regularly scheduled verification procedures and error correction.
  • Monitoring errors.
  • Stay current with new database technology developments and techniques, research new software and tools, proactively recommend improvements

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a DB2 LUW DBA
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Assets:
  • DB2 implementation using HADR (High availability disaster recovery) and HACMP (High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing) a plus
  • Oracle and SQL Server experience a plus
  • IBM Content Manager a Plus
  • Master's degree or PhD a plus
  • Certifications: DB2 or Oracle, MS SQL
