The Senior Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer (RTE) will be responsible for leading the agile transformation and for the successful execution of one or more value streams (Release Trains) to support the delivery of strategic technology products. This role is a hybrid position that balances agile leadership and program management to help software development teams build and deliver solutions more efficiently. The RTE will heavily leverage the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to drive agile delivery within the release train.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with multiple teams / Product Owners to ensure team members can articulate a clear, compelling product vision, aligned with portfolio vision
- Collaborates with Product Owner / leadership to assure product and portfolio backlog / roadmap health and capital process navigation
- Monitors and guides teams and Scrum Masters in holding themselves accountable to consistently, sustainably, and predictably deliver value to customer
- Works with teams and Scrum Masters to measure progress / health using Agile methods influencing improvement in key indicators (e.g. MBOs, velocity, definition of done, WIP, throughput)
- Works with multiple teams to promote an environment of continuous improvement and innovation, particularly with respect to dev ops (e.g. automation, cross-function teams, active monitoring), coaching others in conducting in depth conversations regarding obstacles and opportunities
- Works with leadership to support demand / capacity management / forecasting for multiple teams / products (e.g. velocity, high level estimations, release planning)
- Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
- Serves as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues
- Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions
- Performs complex conceptual analyses
- Reviews work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement
- Forecasts and plans resource requirements
- Authorizes deviations from standards
- May lead functional or segment teams or projects
- Provides explanations and information to others on the most complex issues
- Motivates and inspires other team members

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field)
- 10+years of experience in IT industry
- 5+ years of experience in Agile project management or a similar role
- Experience with Agile tools and practices
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, including SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban
- Proven excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale software projects
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Proven solid problem-solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAFe RTE certification
- Experience in a digital technology or software development environment
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
