Provide oversight and management of multiple HEOR projects, as well as, provide leadership in developing new service offerings and mentoring junior researchers. Job Components:

  • Lead HEOR studies in designated area to provide sound research design and high-quality analysis
  • Successfully manage internal study team and keep studies on timeline and within budget
  • Contribute substantially to HEOR business development, particularly in the oncology therapeutic area
  • Provide consistent superior consultative customer service by focusing on their high-level and immediate business needs
  • Contribute to continuing improvement in HEOR infrastructure
  • Contribute to growth of the oncology therapeutic area 
  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely and thorough manner
  • Mentor junior researchers in methodology and client interaction

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provide scientific leadership and project management on multiple outcomes research and health economic studies simultaneously
  • Stay current with advancements in oncology and HEOR methodologies
  • Design research studies in the oncology therapeutic area
  • Lead research teams; oversee internal project teams, conduct or oversee study analyses and manage study budgets and timelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biostatisticians, programmers, and clinical experts to ensure robustness and relevance of research findings
  • Interpret and communicate research findings to diverse audiences
  • Disseminate study results via manuscripts, reports, and conference presentations
  • Manage client relationships; achieve high client satisfaction rating
  • Mentor and train new research staff as needed
  • Conduct business development activities
  • Provide oversite of oncology therapeutic area when Director unavailable
  • Oversee and direct projects and proposals of higher complexity
  • Intervene to address major issues on projects in therapeutic area as requested by Director

Required Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of research experience in the pharmaceutical industry, health economics or health outcomes research OR 5+ years data driven research experience in another field, with a focus in on
  • 3+ years of project management experience and demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a research study from design development to completion. Record of publication
  • Demonstrated experience in project management of teams across multiple functional areas
  • Demonstrated experience in data driven research
  • Willing or ability to 2 – 4 trips to clients and/or conferences annually

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with secondary data assets, administrative claims databases or electronic medical record data
  • Attention to detail – Understands data thoroughly and works in a «hands-on» manner with project team throughout all phases of HEOR studies to ensure highest quality
  • Technical knowledge – Demonstrated ability to display full knowledge of Optum’s data assets, their appropriate use, study design, and HEOR procedures
  • Therapeutic knowledge – Demonstrated ability to portray good knowledge of the disease under study and leverages clinical personnel in or associated with HEOR
  • Communication, verbal – Demonstrated ability to convey thoughts in a clear, concise, and accurate manner. Listens carefully and asks questions when necessary to ensure understanding. Provides clear input and direction to internal study teams
  • Communication, written – Demonstrated ability to convey findings in a clear, concise, and accurate manner with appropriate formality and grammar
  • Computer literacy – Demonstrated ability to use computer hardware and software as productivity tools in performing work-related tasks. Enters information into company-required tracking programs with minimal outside assistance
  • Customer service – Demonstrated ability to provide customers with complete and accurate information. Quickly identifies needs and follows through on commitments made. Maintains a high energy level when interacting with customers. Demonstrates professionalism and presents a positive image of the company. Looks for continuing opportunities to be consultative to help advance client’s business objectives
  • Development of self and others – Demonstrated ability to identify personal career development goals and opportunities related to current job with assistance of manager. Seeks additional training and assistance with additional responsibilities and feedback on performance
  • Planning & organizing – Demonstrated ability to plan work effectively to meet goals and ensure timely completion of assignments. Manages time effectively. Has a routine or system for completing work. Consistently meets timelines. Proactively notifies manager of any difficulties with balancing workload
  • Problem solving & decision making – Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions. Focuses on resolving problems and makes decisions in a timely manner. Promptly notifies project team of the problem and any decisions made
  • Relationship building – Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with colleagues. Demonstrates honesty and integrity in dealing with others. Resolves conflicts with others promptly and effectively. Accepts constructive feedback

The salary range for this role is $106,800 TO $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
