Billing Representative – Lake Success, NY

This position is full-time (37.5 hours / week), Monday – Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 2800 MARCUS AVE Suite 200 Lake Success, NY 11042.

We offer 2 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• This function is responsible for medical and ancillary product premium billing.
• Positions in this function interact with customers gathering support data to ensure invoice accuracy and also work through specific billing discrepancies.
• Provide input to policies, systems, methods, and procedures for the effective management and control of the premium billing function.
• Educate customers regarding the availability of receiving invoices and remitting payments through online applications.
• Monitor outstanding balances and take appropriate actions to ensure clients pay as billed.
• Manage the preparation of invoices and complete reconciliation of billing with accounts receivables.
• May also include quality assurance and audit of billing activities.

 

Note: Positions mainly responsible for more general A/R activities which do not include medical and ancillary premium billing activities can be found in the Accounts Receivable function in the Finance job family.

 

This role will also require employees to obtain and maintain prior authorization or radiology orders.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
• Must be 18 years of age OR Older
• 1+ years of Medical Insurance
• 1+ years of experience in a Medical Billing in private practice or physicians’ office
• Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and navigation, mouse and keyboarding skills
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Experience working with managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid plans
• Experience with EPIC
• Experience with CPT and ICD-10
• Knowledge of procedure codes
• Live within 30 miles of Lake Success NY
• Ability to have flexibility to work any shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with radiology authorization

 

The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
