Are you a seasoned data analyst passionate about leveraging data to drive transformative change in healthcare? Join our Healthcare Economics Team at Optum, where you’ll have the opportunity to apply cutting-edge data analytics to improve patient outcomes, enhance member experiences, and optimize our clinical and advocacy experience. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker, driven, and capable of working effectively within a team. This role requires a proactive individual who can turn complex data into actionable insights, driving strategic decisions and enhancing our clinical management and advocacy solutions. Experience in building or creating surveillance or diagnostic tools for user consumption will be advantageous.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of data and business processes related to clinical case and disease management programs, clinical advocacy solutions, and national healthcare cost drivers
  • Research and develop innovative analytics to generate value for Optum and our clients
  • Identify trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets
  • Use data expertise to analyze data and provide solutions to optimize the performance of operations and data processing tasks
  • Support our data scientists and statisticians with data requests and analytic support
  • Design data integration processes with automation, process controls, and monitoring tools to ensure data quality
  • Validate data pipelines and provide design inputs to build scalable data and analytics processes/data flows
  • Provide quality checks to ensure high standard and accurate data

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in complex data analysis with relational and non-relational (NoSQL) databases, mining large datasets, including advanced proficiency in SQL/Python or any transferable programming language
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure Cloud) for model deployment and scalable data processing
  • Demonstrated ability to drive data driven business solutions in a complex data environment
  • Ability to drive change and influence individuals at all organizational levels through technical discussions and analytical insights
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong networks in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex data insights for audiences without a technical background 
  • Knowledge of data architecture, ETL, data warehouse design and large-scale data processing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience mentoring and leading other data analysts
  • Experience in a healthcare organization in a data-centric role 
  • Knowledge of clinical case and disease management programs

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
