DBT Therapists employs pre-licensed therapists that have background or interest in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and is learning to work with clients with borderline personality disorder, self-harm and/or destructive behaviors, and/or suicidal ideation. Ideally this individual has had exposure to other trauma modalities such as EMDR, ART (accelerated resolution therapy), AIR (adaptive internal relational) Network, Prolonged Exposure or Somatic Experiencing

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of Sr. DBT-PTSD Therapist, complete diagnostic assessment, treatment planning and functional assessments and clinical session notes within established timeframe
  • Participate in weekly team consultation meetings
  • Initiate upon admission discharge planning in collaboration with the patient
  • Under the direction of the Sr. DBT-PTSD Therapist, utilizes skill of writing individualized, behavioral & measurable treatment goals based upon information on psychosocial assessment and psychiatric evaluation
  • Under the direction of the Sr. DBT-PTSD Therapist, Clinicians will facilitate two groups, with the potential to facilitate up to three in the short-term, depending on clinic need. Clinicians will also acquire groups at the rate that they build their individual DBT case load (1 group per 5 individual clients served)
  • Provide real-time phone coaching to DBT clients. Coaching sessions could fall outside of normal business hours. Seek guidance as needed to prepare for coaching session
  • Obtain insurance benefit information, authorization for treatment and perform ongoing utilization reviews. Seek guidance as needed
  • Demonstrate skill in documentation which meets all regulatory and DBT-PTSD standards. Files all progress notes in the medical record within 24 – 48 hours of the date of service
  • Responds appropriately to patient’s requests. Seek guidance as needed
  • Under the direction of the Sr. DBT-PTSD Therapist, provides comprehensive education, instructions, and/or advocacy information designed to assist the patient and significant others to identify secure needed health care follow-up or next level of care services
  • Provides referring physicians and/or psychotherapists with weekly updates of patient’s compliance with and progress in treatment
  • Adheres to DBT-PTSD’s Policies and Procedures
  • Stay current with research and advancements in the field of therapy
  • Prepare and assist with audits when requested
  • Be a part of the DBT Team according to the guidelines outlined as a state certified IOP DBT clinic (program)

Required Qualifications:

  • Must either:
    • Currently possess a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, marriage & family therapy, or social work from a regionally accredited academic program
    • Currently in final months of a master’s degree in psychology, counseling, marriage & family therapy, or social work from a regionally accredited academic program and will have Master’s Degree within 90 days of employment
  • Pre-licensed as a clinical mental health professional in Minnesota (Behavioral Health Counselor, Pre-Licensed Therapist, etc.)

The salary range for this role is $49,300 to $96,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
