The Director, Software Engineering serves as the technology leader working to ensure engineering operational excellence. The role is responsible for the overall operational excellence of a large product to ensure we have high performing feature teams that are tackling the highest priority work and leveraging current development practices to delivery high quality features that align to the business needs. You will focus on execution as well as serve as a mentor in leading through digital and organizational transformation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team responsible for 24/7 application monitoring, incident detection, and resolution
  • Own and manage the monitoring strategy using tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, and synthetic monitoring platforms
  • Establish and maintain incident response protocols, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of outages
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for outage communication, providing clear, timely updates to stakeholders and clients
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to enhance observability and system performance
  • Continuously optimize alerting thresholds, dashboards, and monitoring coverage to reduce noise and improve signal accuracy
  • Mentor and guide support engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in application delivery and support roles.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership capacity managing high performing, cross functional teams
  • 3+ years of experience with Dynatrace, Splunk, and synthetic monitoring tools (Catchpoint, Pingdom, New Relic Synthetics, etc)
  • 2+ years of incident management, ITIL practices, and SLA-driven support models
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud environments (Azure Preferred) and distributed application architectures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years with automation and scripting for monitoring and alerting (Python, Powershell, Bash, etc)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
