Business Operations Specialist
(Remote considered)
This position is National Remote. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis, Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four (4) days per week.

This Business Operations Specialist position is required to develop knowledge of department programs including regulatory/compliance guidelines, program specific workflow tools and processing requirements and rules. In addition, this position will be required to meet daily production goals and quality standards and have an ability to research and contact provider facilities to request medical record documentation in a professional manner.
This position is full time Monday – Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop knowledge of department programs including regulatory/compliance guidelines, program specific workflow tools and processing requirements and rules
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with providers to ensure strong program participation and quick response times.
- Ability to research and locate providers: finding providers who have moved to a new employer, closed a clinic/practice or moved and contact providers to confirm information
- Contact providers to explain request, set commitments for information return and explain options for completing and transmitting information
- Influence response of provider while ensuring legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines are met related to advisement and influence of coding decisions made by providers.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
- Anticipate and troubleshoot provider non-participation and create persuasive support for quick resolution of resistance
- Meet daily production goals
- Meet Quality standards
- Understand and apply rules for releasing medical information to providers

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- 6+ months RADV experience
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with online research
Telecommuting Requirements:
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
- Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload to meet productivity goals while maintaining quality
- Ability to use good judgment when evaluating request content and relevant information
- Understanding of and ability to apply compliance standards across multiple program types and situations
- Ability to Multitask, adaptable – able to move across different work and program types in short time periods
- Ability to articulate experience with workflow tools to support future modifications
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills such as verbal/telephonic phone skills, including ability to adapt style based on situation
- Ability to work with less structured, more complex issues.
- Respond to mentoring, coaching, and various forms of feedback and to ensure the team meets performance metrics

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.00 – $35.72 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
