The Principal Data Analyst position will deliver essential technical expertise and assume project ownership responsibilities in support of the MRDB digital sources of truth. This digital foundation is integral to Industry Relations and key organizational strategic initiatives, including MBS (Billing), Forecasting, Optum Specialty Fusion, Gateway, RFPs, and others.

 

Candidates should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of database infrastructure and software development methodologies and possess hands-on experience in leading or owning Agile development projects. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, analytical professional with a proven track record of root cause analysis and delivering actionable solutions. Experience within the healthcare or PBM sector, particularly with rebates, is highly advantageous.

 

This role requires frequent collaboration with both business and technology teams and is accountable for developing and maintaining charters, project plans, business requirements documentation, User Acceptance Testing, pre- and post-implementation issue resolution, and executive status reports. The Principal Data Analyst will also serve as a subject matter expert on contracted rebate data, working closely with cross-functional teams to provide accurate data and strategic guidance necessary for informed, timely, data-driven decisions.

 

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of data and business processes related to Manufacturer Rebate Contract digital SOT
  • Serve as an SME for product and data solutioning, and refining data requirements and roadmaps creating integrated data solutions across the organization
  • Create a library of functional documentation on data infrastructure, standard rules of use, and best practices
  • Use data expertise to analyze data, provide solutions to optimize operations and data quality while identifying trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets
  • Serve as the point of contact for cross-functional collaborative efforts related to core datasets
  • Drive the design of data integration processes through automation, process controls, and monitoring tools to ensure data quality
  • Engage with stakeholders and provide insights and recommendations on process/system improvements that will support data strategy and quality assurance
  • Lead and Mentor Data Analysts and Contract Analysts/Specialists

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of combined experience in reporting and data analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in the PBM/Rebate Management and/or Healthcare industry
  • Advanced experience in SQL, Databricks and/or Python, with the ability to perform effective and efficient querying involving multiple tables and complex subqueries
  • Experience communicating ideas clearly and concisely in writing and orally to bridge the gap between technical resources and business leadership
  • Experience solving complex business problems

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in process mapping or design, technology functions and/or operations
  • Experience working as an Agile Product Owner and/or Project Management within data or analytics projects
  • Experience working with CA Agile Central Aha! or Rally
  • Experience with pharmacy rebate data structure and concepts

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
