This executive leader will spearhead growth for Optum’s most strategic provider and payvider enterprise clients, shaping the future of healthcare delivery through visionary leadership and enterprise-wide collaboration. As a key architect of Optum’s provider- and payvider-led growth strategy, this leader will harness the full breadth of Optum’s capabilities across Optum Health, Optum Insight, Optum Rx, and Optum Financial to deliver differentiated value, integration, and innovation for large, complex health systems and payvider organizations.

Reporting directly to the Optum Chief Growth Officer, with dotted-line partnership to Optum Health, Optum Insight, and Optum Rx leadership, this role serves as a critical member of Optum’s senior leadership team, influencing enterprise strategy and driving outcomes that strengthen long-term provider and payvider partnerships and market leadership.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 5-7 high-performing client executives accountable for Optum’s largest, revenue‑driving enterprise provider and payvider clients.
  • Drive Optum’s enterprise provider and payvider growth and retention strategy, leveraging integrated capabilities across Optum Health, Optum Insight, Optum Rx, and Optum Financial to address evolving healthcare delivery and financing needs.
  • Apply deep understanding of provider and payvider market dynamics to identify opportunities to proactively expand and adapt Optum solutions in partnership with executive leadership across the enterprise.
  • Foster a solid, inclusive, and high-performing culture for a geographically distributed team, reinforcing transformation, growth, innovation, and client-centricity while developing and retaining top talent.
  • Champion Optum’s brand with provider and payvider leaders through thought leadership, industry engagement, and strategic presence at national and industry forums.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of sales support systems, tools, and resources to track client growth, performance, and opportunity pipelines.

Internal Client Responsibilities

  • Operate effectively within a complex, matrixed organization to build trusted, collaborative relationships across Optum businesses.
  • Develop close partnerships with Optum Health, Optum Insight, Optum Rx, and Optum Financial business leaders, along with client management and sales teams, to advance cohesive provider and payvider client strategies.
  • Influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization; advocate for provider and payvider client needs internally and partner on the development of new products and services tailored to healthcare delivery and payvider models.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of client strategies, performance objectives, and the value of Optum’s integrated capability suite to deliver unified, enterprise-level solutions.

External Client Responsibilities

  • Cultivate deep, trust-based relationships with provider and payvider C‑suite leaders, positioning Optum as a strategic partner and trusted advisor in long-term transformation and value creation.
  • Monitor healthcare delivery and financing trends, competitive strategies, and market shifts impacting providers and payviders to anticipate needs and deliver high-impact, integrated solutions with a white-glove client experience.
  • Serve as the executive advocate for client experience, driving measurable improvements in satisfaction and loyalty metrics, including Net Promoter Scores (NPS).
  • Drive disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and other senior-level sales leadership responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of experience serving complex provider and/or payvider organizations.
  • 8+ years of experience leading and developing cross-functional teams.
  • 8+ years of healthcare growth, sales, or client management experience within provider- or payvider-focused markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a highly complex, matrixed environment requiring solid collaboration and influence.
  • Ability to travel nationally up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA).
  • Experience selling to or partnering with large healthcare systems, integrated delivery networks, or provider-led payvider organizations.
  • Proven success in consultative, enterprise-level healthcare solutions leadership.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $ $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
