The Clinical Support Specialist (CSS) provides a full range of critical support as part of a comprehensive medical team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Handbook. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within
- Pre-visit planning and post-visit coordination for patients, patient rooming, collecting patient vital signs, managing medication refills, point of care testing, documentation in the electronic medical record, maintaining clinic flow, inventory management, assisting with procedures and treatments, and communicating with efficiency and diplomacy
- The CSS may work under the clinical direction of the clinic providers, registered nurses as appropriate, and has a direct reporting relationship to the Practice Supervisor

Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire
- One or more of the following required:
- Successful completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces
- Current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license (basic) and national EMT registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
- Completion of a nationally recognized accredited licensed practical nurse (LPN) training program; while progressing towards LPN certification
- Completion of a nationally recognized accredited certified medical assistant (CMA) training program
- Completion of a nationally recognized accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA II only) training program
- 1+ years of successful experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare clinic setting
- Demonstrated intermediate computer proficiency
- Proven basic applied math skills, including calculations and conversions
- Proven record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and successful performance with past and present employers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven knowledge of patient care and aseptic technique
- Ability to work well with providers and other staff
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work
- Ability to successfully serve a variety of diverse customers in difficult situations
- Ability to provide service excellence, kindness, and compassion
- Skill in developing and maintaining professional relationships
- Ability to prioritize work demands
- Ability to interpret and follow policies, procedures, and protocols
Physical Qualifications:
- Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking
- May be required to lift 20 pounds
- Requires use of computer, phone, and general office equipment
- Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
