The Enterprise Information Security (EIS) team is responsible for cybersecurity across our organization. We support our business and members by reducing risk, rapidly responding to threats, focusing on business resiliency and securing new acquisitions.

 

The Security Architect is a top technical role that understands, and has applied, a comprehensive method for implementing security processes, security policies, security systems, security controls, and capabilities across an enterprise while aligning with the organizations core business objectives and goals.  This position provides an integration point with business teams and is considered a change agent for the business in understanding security risks and the role and responsibilities of Enterprise Information Security (EIS), as well as ensuring that EIS fully understands and is engaged to support the needs and objectives of the business.  The Security Architect reports to the Enterprise Security Architecture leader, but works with CISO and BISO and other key business partners.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Support RFP requests positioning security program to successfully win business
  • Support customer and regulatory audits of the Information Security Program partnering with SISO, BISO, and key business partners
  • Provide expert level security architecture standards across all security domains and technology functions while consulting with business and IT projects to provide holistic security requirements
  • Play a key role in defining the software and systems engineering lifecycle and providing requirements to project teams (secure coding practices, authentication mechanisms, proper data storage, etc.)
  • Provide architectural direction for modern cloud based solutions
  • Develop architecture documents/standards and pattern artifacts to security advisement teams consulting in enterprise projects
  • Influence key leaders in the organization on security principles that may be controversial and difficult to implement in order to protect customers and company data

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related discipline or 5+ years equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of information security experience working in large and highly-regulated organizations
  • 4+ years of App Sec Architect experience
  • 4+ years of application security experience including vulnerability management remediation
  • 3+ years of Cloud Security experience
  • 3+ years of Software experience 
  • 2+ years of experience performing pen tests or interpreting pen test results 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical security certification; CISSP, Cloud certs, Application architecture
  • Experience working with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and customers
  • Experience with Public Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) 
  • Subject matter expert knowledge of the technology aspects of security

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
