Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Establishes partnerships across business and technology stakeholders to ensure the right problems are being solved the right way to meet customer needs
  • Develop strategies and new initiatives with their team to advance on an organizational and technical level both the department, the company and the product
  • Motivate and communicate across multiple levels of their department
  • Identifies initiatives that result in customer metric improvement and drives adoption across portfolio
  • Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders in Engineering, and cross-functionally (Product Management, sales, marketing, alliances, etc.)
  • Provide a consistent/successful interface between Engineering Development and Product Management
  • Develop leadership skills within the organization and mentor other leaders
  • Drives the application of modern software engineering practices to improve team delivery and solution outcomes
  • Champions the implementation of instrumentation and diagnostics to support maintainability and operations
  • Champions “automation first” mentality throughout engineering and operations practices
  • Leads the implementation of software solutions
  • Effectively communicates with business stakeholders and technical team
  • Influences stakeholders to assess and manage the impacts of changes and drive decision making
  • Recommends innovation in digital and channel strategies; Engages appropriate parties to influence change
  • Drives a quality culture by example, encouraging quality practices in others; Initiates and implements strategies to embed quality practices in culture
  • Development, measurement, and management of key metrics for group’s performance
  • Drive high throughput and all connected key metrics on a strategic level
  • Standardize the development process where needed, allow local differences where advantageous

Required Qualifications 

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of experience in engineering management
  • 10+ years of experience in at least one modern tech stack
  • 6+ years of experience managing Directors, Sr Managers
  • 6+ years of experience in Agile development methodology
  • Willingness to travel (up to 25%)

 

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Highly adaptable in a dynamic environment
  • Has moderate familiarity with many technologies

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $147,300 to $282,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
