 The Medicare Advantage Product Capabilities team provides management, strategic oversight, SME knowledge, data analytics, data delivery & stewardship, and production support for technical assets which deliver Medicare Advantage product and benefit data across the enterprise.  Our focus is to create sustainable solutions that drive efficiencies in operations where Medicare Advantage product data is needed.

 The Principal Data Analyst is a director level position, and will be an expert in working with data, driving successful technical programs under their responsibility.  While immediately the position will not have direct reports, they will have responsibility for small team of developers and analysts that may report to them in the near future.

 The role will have oversight of a program related to data exchanges to supplemental benefit vendors.  The candidate will be the lead in coordinating between multiple internal teams and external vendors to ensure accurate transfer of member data to allow flawless delivery of member benefits.

 The position will primarily support API access, understanding how the health plan benefits work, then guiding vendors on appropriates access methods to ensure data is being used in a way compliant with CMS regulations and UHG standards.

 Primary Responsibilities:

• Establish a deep understanding of the business (Medicare Product, Claims, Member eligibility) and collaborate with Business SMEs to shape the solutions, perform analysis, and interpret data
• Serve as a solution architect, creating prototypes or frameworks that builds alignment and common solutions for all data consumers
• Solutions are typically built in SQL Server using SQL, stored procedures, or in Snowflake.  Some python scripting will be used
• Engage frequently with vendors on platform updates and changes impacting the technology platform
• Build and maintain documentation, presentation, notes for all implementations
• Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks
• Keep track or projects and provide status updates

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of solid SQL experience
• 5+ years of healthcare experience
• 3+ years of progressive data analytics leadership experience
• 3+ years of current hands-on experience with modern data platforms and technology stacks and willingness to get into the details
• 3+ years of experience communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences at VP and Sr. Director levels
• 2+ years of scripting experience (python preferred)
• Able to coach, mentor and support team members in skill and career growth

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
