A Technical Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and management of technical products within OptumHealth and Financial Technology Division of Optum. The role will play a critical role in aligning the product vision with the overall business strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Enables vision and content of future releases through asset and product roadmaps
  • Partners with product managers for management of the full product lifecycle with a technical focus, including the strategy, design, development, management and end-of-life of new, existing or acquired products
  • Decomposes features into manageable user stories
  • Collaborate with Business Partners to gather any information required for user story creation
  • Can articulate to partners an understanding of core technology enabling business functions
  • Builds subject matter expertise with knowledge of business use cases and technical aptitude
  • Partners in delivering product performance in alignment with expectations, and updates changes to a product portfolio to improve competitive position and produce optimal product performance to meet customer and market needs
  • Partners in cross-functional stakeholder management, to include (but not limited to) design, engineering, scrum teams, business leaders, etc., functioning as technical expert with a fluency in development concepts and modern development practices
  • Supports senior product managers, coachable and support in their day-to-day activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure successful product development and launch 
  • Grows and aligns asset and overall portfolio backlogs and supports in managing the product backlog, ensuring that features are delivered on time and within budget 
  • Track key product metrics to measure success and make data-driven decisions 
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on the product
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with customers and key stakeholders, gathering feedback and incorporating it into the product roadmap
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (MBA is a plus) 
  • Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role, with a track record of successful product launches, with minimum of 5 + years’ experience in product management 
  • Experience in Healthcare domain and specifically Provider, Value Based Care and Ambulatory care is highly preferred
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban 
  • Good technical background, with a deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies. Possess an in-depth understanding of lean product management best practices and frameworks
  • Proven excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams 
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making 
  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as JIRA or Trello 
  • Solid business acumen, with the ability to align product strategy with overall business goals 
  • Solid customer focus, with the ability to gather and understand customer needs 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience on Healthcare Electronic Medical Records, Medical Management, Claims and Eligibility, Telemedicine or Risk Adjudication
