The Senior Field Implementation/Account Manager – Specialty Benefits is the ‘field-based Service Owner’ responsible for the customer’s total service experience with UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits. This includes serving as the key liaison between the customer and the Central Service team post-sale for Life, Disability & Critical Illness and Accident benefits. This position will facilitate the post-sale implementation process between the client and UHC Implementation Unit, provide continuous support to the client on self-billing set-up and administration, provide training and support to the client regarding claim forms, EOI processing and benefit plan enrollment and provisions, as well as service issue resolution, and education for the customer and their employees. They will address any escalated issues sent to them, from the AE/SAE, or other field employee. In this position, a major role will be to manage the final sold process for UHC Specialty Benefits with the new business Specialty AE, Underwriting, UHC case implementation unit, and new customers on final sold documents, self-billing set-up and administration of monthly premium, and other web portals as appropriate. The Senior Field Implementation/Account Manager will also be responsible for conducting open enrollment meetings for voluntary benefits.

The Senior Field Account Manager will handle all UHC Specialty Benefits case installation and service for Basic Life/ADD, Supplemental Life/ADD, Short-Term & Long-Term Disability, Critical Illness & Accident benefits for key account groups with 100 -3,000 eligible employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the Specialty Benefits post-sale installation process and service experience of customers at the field level by working with the Specialty Benefits Installation team and other matrix partners as required to ensure new benefits & plans are set-up timely and accurately
  • Develop and maintain a solid relationship with internal partners in Specialty Benefits Installation team to manage customer service experience and expectations
  • Supporting the new business AE and SAE in obtaining all required new business sold case documents, obtaining client signature documents and manage the case installation process efficiently prior to the plan effective date
  • Facilitate customer implementation calls to verify sold benefits and rates, and train & assist new customer on the self-billing/summary billing reporting process
  • Train customers on Specialty Benefits web portal, expand customer expertise and reliance on web tools, claim forms and reporting to drive usage and adoption of the online capabilities
  • Maintain and provide customer information to the new business AE and SAE/Analyst on case set-up, final census/enrollment data, monthly premium billing per benefit, and improvement opportunities for new business installation
  • Conduct enrollment meetings with customers to increase employee enrollment in supplemental life/add benefits, voluntary disability benefits and voluntary Critical Illness & Accident benefits
  • Coordinate ordering & delivering of personalized enrollment materials/rate calculation sheets for customers through UHC Worksite Marketing teams
  • Participate/support new business and finalist presentations to represent Specialty Benefits implementation for new business, provide installation timeline and process, post-sale service support for required signature documents, and/or coordinate attendees from other service related areas to support AE/SAE
  • Set expectations and manage the new business case installation timeline with the new customer and internal teams to ensure a smooth transition of benefits
  • Establish and maintain Broker/Consultant relationship as needed, but primarily with customer
  • Coordinate resolution of pre-implementation service and eligibility issues with Specialty Benefits Implementation team and underwriting such as Actively at Work guidelines and Premium Waiver provisions for employees
  • Review final census and enrollment, as well as verify the premium billing process and paid premium for self-bill/summary billed benefits 90 days after new business case installation and annually, thereafter
  • This function includes Account Management positions used in the Commercial Market Group that are in sales bands

Required Qualifications: 

  • Insurance license as required by law
  • 3+ years of work experience in a sales, sales support or account management role in the insurance industry with specialty products 
  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to work with employers, consumers, consultants, brokers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and UHC eTools

Preferred Qualification:

  • Ancillary Services, FP Product knowledge
