Provider Relations Advocates are accountable for a full range of provider relations and service interactions within Optum Serve, including end-to-end provider claims / concerns, ease of use of provider portal, and support for training & development of external provider education programs. Our advocates support and nurture positive relationships between Optum Serve, providers, and program managers. The Advocates also supports and drive strategies relating to the retention of the provider network.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in end-to-end provider claims and help enhance provider experience
  • Assist in efforts to enhance ease of use of provider portal and future services enhancements
  • Support development and management of provider networks within assigned regions
  • Help implement training and development of external providers through education programs in collaboration with our training teams
  • Identify gaps in network composition and services to assist network contracting teams

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of provider advocacy experience
  • 1+ years of customer service experience 
  • 1+ years of data entry experience
  • 1+ years of experience within the healthcare or insurance industry
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel within territory up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently resides within the state of Idaho, Washington or Oregon or is willing to relocate at your own expense
  • Experience in continuous process, efficiency, and quality improvement
  • Experience with military providers / programs
  • Provider data management or other healthcare database maintenance
  • Proficiency with MS TEAMS, SharePoint and Excel

Soft Skill:

  • Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
