Primary Responsibilities:

  • As a Software Engineer, you will be accountable for implementing software solutions on a 4-6 person scrum team.
  • You will be coaching other software engineers within your team
  • You will interface with Lead SWEs, Managers and Peers to understand priorities and technical strategy
  • You will contribute to the product’s more complex components and focus on building quality software
    Code quality will be one of your core areas of focus – ensuring your team’s user stories are effectively tested, peer reviewed and well documented
  • You will influence the system and become a key part of the processes that deliver it
  • You will act as an individual contributor while providing influence over your scrum team
  • You will embrace learning modern technologies and their place within our tech stack. You will work to ensure new tech is brought forward to the team to solve problems creatively

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, other Engineering degree, IT, MIS, other technology related fields, or a specialized certificate in a technology related field
  • Spent 6+ years in a software engineer role before, and know how to contribute to a culture of appreciation and continuous peer feedback. You know what it takes to coalesce around a problem and deliver high quality software solutions. You take total ownership over problems, your focus will be exactly where it needs to be, when it needs to be.
  • 18+ months of broad software engineering knowledge – meaning you are not specialized in Java, Python, or any other coding language
  • Experience working in AI-driven stacks, and/or a demonstrated interest in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
  • Knowledge spans the full stack, from deployment ops and database technologies through to front-end frameworks. Ideally, you have a deep understanding of both OOP and Functional stacks, Relational and NoSQL Data Stores, Streaming Applications and system development/maintenance in the Public Cloud (Azure a bonus!)
  • Extensive experience in Agile and Scrum. You know how to work within teams against a single backlog, and how to enable true CI/CD. You understand the role of a Software Engineer in an Agile environment – where clarifying the solution approach, possessing deep understanding of product requirements and always watching for edge cases are paramount
