The Workers’ Comp and Auto No-Fault division of Optum collaborates with our clients to deliver value beyond transactional savings while helping ensure claimants receive safe and effective clinical care. Our innovative and comprehensive medical cost management programs include pharmacy, ancillary and managed care services from first report of injury to settlement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- System and application health monitoring instrumentation and related monitoring operations, intervention, incident management, escalation, communication
- Owns the execution, tracking, and delivery of Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs), as well as identifying additional KPIs for delivering a first-class platform
- Leverages deep understanding of IT, emerging technologies, and technical capabilities to guide and influence stakeholders and teams in developing solutions, build, deployment, testing and ongoing management of IT services
- Drive and communicate end-to-end resolution of production incidents including root cause analysis, and prevention and correction plans
- Collaborate with the CIO on the information technology strategy, systems, support model, and cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by technology systems that enable growth and flexibility
- Manage a cross-functional team, including experts in solution engineering, product development, support, and others. Recruits, hires, and mentor’s members of the team
- Lead a high performing cross-functional team effectively and efficiently that is collaborative with business partners, customers, and other stakeholders (Solution Engineer, Operations, Support, etc.). Drive process improvement initiatives, including process mapping, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Lead the adoption to DevOps:
- Common automation and testing frameworks and methodologies across all software engineering teams
- Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems; preserve assets, information security and control structures
- Reviews performance of applications programs to ensure program efficiency, program documentation, and to ensure that output meets the needs of business
- Ensures quality development, data integrity and quality assurance processes are in place and follow through the life cycle of the software development
- Work with other teams to ensure smooth transitions of projects or training of the users
- Automating the environment builds/scaling and the application integration/test/build/deploy operations across multiple product lines
- Drive innovation and creative solutions to business and technical challenges on an on-going basis

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role
- 10+ years of people management experience
- 10+ years of experience with software development experience working on Open source, commercially available software and / or Healthcare platforms
- 5+ years of experience with multiple enterprise deployment strategies and solutions in public and private cloud (Azure, AWS or Google Cloud)
- 5+ years of experience with designing and developing microservices/API
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with .NET or Java
- 5+ years of experience with software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
- 5+ years of experience with APM tools like Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk
- Experience with transitioning traditional support model to DevOps model
- Experience in building and leading application development and data engineering teams with a proven track record of delivering on commitments and building web services and data products and services in large scale data environments.
- Experience in leading technology teams in a direct-to-consumer business
- Deep knowledge of DevOps concepts, including continuous integration and deployment
- Proven exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions
- Proven solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and cross-geo teams
- Proven to be an innovative change agent leader, someone who strives to make things more streamlined, automated, faster, and better using AI/ML
- Proven to show operational excellence in monitoring & operation of production services
- Proven aptitude for evidenced-based management, leveraging metrics to drive desired outcomes
