Primary Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
- Support inter-segment accounting by reconciling rate and volume variances, supports onboarding of new contracts, and calculate exposure. Resolve volume variances by working with operational teams
- Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
- Support month-end close accounting by compiling estimates, tracking actuals, performing variances analysis to explain elements driving key variances to budgets, forecasts and historical trends
- Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits
- Assist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups

Analyzes and prepares financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position. Involved in the monthly/quarterly ‘close’ process. Prepares documentation for review in support of external and internal audits. *Employees in jobs labeled with ‘SCA’ must support a government Service Contract Act (SCA) agreement.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- 2+ years of professional accounting experience
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
- Proven ability to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements
- Proven ability to identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems
- Proven ability to solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare experience
- Accounting experience handling regulated entities
- Experience with Hyperion Essbase, PeopleSoft Financials, and Microsoft Access

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
