The Principal Data Scientist, Engagement Analytics plays a pivotal role in shaping member experiences and driving business success. This role leads the development and optimization of advanced analytics to reduce touchpoint abrasion and improve engagement across channels. By delivering actionable insights and supporting critical data assets, this position ensures that member interactions are data-driven, compliant, and personalized.
With a direct impact on key metrics like engagement, retention, and revenue, the role is instrumental in optimizing the end-to-end communication experience and enabling strategic initiatives, including the Adobe ‘Journey of Journey’ Orchestration roadmap. By partnering with cross-functional teams, the Principal Data Scientist transforms complex data into solutions that enhance engagement, member satisfaction and safeguard business outcomes, making it a cornerstone of our journey toward seamless and impactful member engagement.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Optimize Member Experience with Communications: Leverage insights to influence touchpoint strategies, improve efficacy, and enhance member engagement metrics
- Lead Model Development to Optimize Engagement: Design, maintain, and optimize the M&R Bombardment Model, providing data-driven insights to improve member engagement and reduce touchpoint abrasion. Serve as a SME for the development of future orchestration modeling strategies such as Member State
- Advanced Insights and Reporting: Deliver advanced touchpoint analytics, including scenario analyses to assess the impact of potential intervention strategies, and oversee the design of orchestration related dashboards
- Compliance Risk Mitigation: Develop and refine analytics to support Federal TCPA and DNC compliance, minimizing regulatory risk
- Strategic Partner for Adobe ‘Journey of Journey’ Orchestration: Act as the SME for touchpoint data and analytics to support future-state Adobe Orchestration capabilities and other tech-forward initiatives
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, martech, marketing, operations, product, and clinical to align data strategies with business goals
- Data Asset Stewardship: Ensure the integrity, stability, and quality of the M&R touchpoint data asset for all bombardment and fatigue related components, enabling critical business analyses

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related roles, with a focus on marketing and engagement
- Experience in Cloud data systems, including tools such as Databricks and Snowflake
- Experience working with large datasets and advanced data infrastructure
- Expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Demonstrated success in developing data assets and analytics to support multi-channel engagement strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare industry experience
- Experience in supporting cross-functional teams on tech-forward roadmaps
- Experience with Adobe Experience Cloud, particularly in journey orchestration
- Proven familiarity with marketing lifecycle analytics and touchpoint optimization.
- Proven solid verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proven ability to communicate and advocate complex analytics to non-technical stakeholders

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
