As a Principal Data Analyst at OPTUM, you will play a pivotal role in transforming healthcare data into actionable insights. You will lead data analysis projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive data-driven decision-making to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Your expertise will be crucial in developing advanced analytics solutions and ensuring data integrity and compliance with healthcare regulations. The Principle Data Analyst works under minimal supervision and is directly responsible for the specifications, design, documentation, development, code, test planning, testing, monitoring, maintenance, and debug of new and existing Data Conversion and Application Integration Interfaces. The Principle Data Analyst is also responsible for planning the extract, conversion, and load of data from one system to another. This position is subject to being on-call 24 hours, seven days a week as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex data analysis, data conversion, and data integration projects from inception to completion
  • Develop and implement data analytics solutions to support business objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data needs and deliver actionable insights
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data analytics and healthcare
  • Drive continuous improvement in data analytics processes and methodologies
  • Design and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports
  • Conduct statistical analysis and predictive modeling to inform strategic decisions
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through presentations and reports
  • Mentor and guide junior data analysts and team members

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis
  • 3+ years of experience in a Healthcare Data Analytics role
  • Proficient experience in data analysis tools and programming languages such as (C or C#, HTML, MS SQL, JavaScript, CSS, HL7, Python)
  • Proficient experience using Development and Interface Applications: MS Visual Studio, SQL Server, Corepoint Integration Engine, and Epic Systems Bridges
  • Proven solid knowledge of healthcare data and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HL7)
  • Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modeling
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certification in Corepoint Interface Engine, Epic Systems Bridges, and Data Analytics or related fields
  • Experience working as a Principle Data Analyst in a healthcare technology company
  • Demonstrated familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and/or big data technologies
  • Proven knowledge of machine learning and/or utilizing artificial intelligence techniques
  • Proven excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with solid communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, with a Proven track record of delivering results and driving business outcomes

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
