As a Software Engineer, you will be part of the production group within the COSMOS Claims Engine team. Your responsibilities will include assisting with incident resolution and facilitating communication between the COSMOS team and the business partners.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ticket Management: Monitor and prioritize incoming ServiceNow tickets related to application breaks and information requests
  • Issue Diagnosis: Analyze and diagnose issues reported in the tickets, identifying root causes
  • Mainframe Operations: Execute necessary commands and scripts on the IBM mainframe to resolve issues
  • Code Debugging: Debug and troubleshoot application code running on the mainframe
  • System Monitoring: Continuously monitor the mainframe system for performance and stability
  • Documentation: Document the resolution process and update ticket status in ServiceNow
  • Communication: Communicate with stakeholders, including users and other IT teams, to provide updates and gather additional information if needed
  • Compliance: Ensure all actions comply with organizational policies and industry regulations
  • Proactive Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks to prevent future application breaks
  • Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to junior team members and end-users

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 3+ years of experience working with IBM mainframe systems, including z/OS, JCL, and TSO/ISPF
  • 3+ years of experience working in mainframe programming languages such as COBOL, PL/I, and Assembler
  • 3+ years of experience with mainframe databases like DB2 and IMS
  • 1 + years of experience in processing and resolving medical claims

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServiceNow Expertise: Experience with ServiceNow for ticket management and workflow automation
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Scripting Skills: Ability to write and execute scripts for automation and issue resolution
  • System Monitoring: Experience with mainframe monitoring tools and techniques
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication to interact with stakeholders and document resolutions
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in diagnosing issues and implementing fixes
  • Compliance Awareness: Understanding of industry regulations and organizational policies related to mainframe operations
  • Member Enrollment: Knowledge of member enrollment processes and systems
  • Provider Contracting: Familiarity with provider contracting, including both participating (PAR) and non-participating (non-PAR) providers

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
