The Director of Quality, Epic Solutions is an organizational leader with a passion for data and analysis who has a clear vision for how data and analytic tools, including Epic EMR support strategy and business enablement. This role will be responsible for development of client reporting and analytic functions with an eye on advancing our quality performance through data, business intelligence and advanced analytics. The incumbent must have solid data and analytic solution strategy and development background and be able to work with a diverse set of internal and external customers to translate business objectives and concepts from road map to execution.
The incumbent will be responsible for team output and prioritization as it relates, but not limited to executive reporting, dashboard creation, targeted member list creation for clinical outreach campaigns, measure validation, and business requirement gathering. As part of an analytic center of excellence, this role will collaborate across business pillars to identify synergies and efficiencies in work products and process. Building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and peers will be critical in this role. Experience with healthcare reporting and analytics is required, as well as leadership experience.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead reporting and member outreach projects from ideation to execution specific to HEDIS and Star measures performance, outreach effectiveness, and operational reporting from Epic EMR
- Ensure all critical reports are accurate, regularly scheduled, and shared with the right individuals according to an agreed upon reporting calendar and schedule
- Work closely with clients, key leaders, clinical teams, and analytic data strategy leads on data management strategy to support reporting and analytic work products leveraging Epic EMR systems where appropriate
- Sets team direction, resolves problems, and provides guidance and development to members of own team
- Develops end-to-end dashboards, data visualizations to support the business with critical decision needs
- Work closely with key leaders, clinical teams and analytic data strategy leads on data management strategy to support reporting and analytic work products
- Collaborate across Optum Care Delivery Organizations on reporting and data strategy
- Provide thought leadership and act as a subject matter expert in the design and recommendation of appropriate reporting & analytical approaches and methodology in addressing key issues within the business
- Organize and assemble the staffing, technology, processes, and financial resources necessary to address the current and future reporting & analytics needs of the business
- Develop end-to-end dashboards, data visualizations to support the business with critical decision needs
- Oversee data and analysis education for end users and report consumers, establishing the appropriate communications and training to promote understanding of data and fostering analytic maturity
- Produce innovative solutions with sophisticated techniques and intuitive visualization that creatively address critical issues in HEDIS and Star measure data
- Provide measure validation across different sources to identify potential process improvement and/or data source gaps
- Able to explore and assess clear end goals for projects of all scale, including early identification and efficient communication of challenges and risks
- Mentor and coach analyst staff, including separating responsibilities between business analysts and developers
- Act as a senior consultant to business units, understanding their challenges and translating them into data-drive strategies
- Present and socialize team output and deliverables to other departments and leaders
- Advocate for the team and present deliverables to executive leaders
- Build relationships with other departments including Optum Global teams and serve as a SME and source of influence
- Lead implementation or onboarding efforts for client (people, process, technology)
- Produce innovative solutions with sophisticated techniques and intuitive visualization that creatively address critical issues in HEDIS and Star measure data

Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of analytics, data science or similar analytic experience
- 5+ years of management experience providing decision making guidance
- 5+ years of experience working with healthcare data and reporting, especially focused on STAR/HEDIS
- Experience as a consultant or other client facing role
- Demonstrated proficiency with reporting tools and hands-on experience with SQL, Tableau and/or Power BI
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with analytic and non-analytic business partners
- Demonstrated ability to formulate, propose, and refine analytic and reporting solutions that deliver value and meet the business needs
- Proven excellent written and oral communication and data presentation skills, with ability to tailor the communication style to the right audience, from the analytic professional to the senior business and/or clinical leaders
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in the healthcare field
- 5+ years of experience in HEDIS Quality measures
- Experience leading data science / advanced analytic teams
- Proficiency with Rally/Agile methodology
- Proficiency with Alteryx
- Proven solid verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated broad view of business and related strategy
- Demonstrated ability to be self-driven, motivated to innovate, naturally curious, tolerance for ambiguity
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to complex business environments and situations

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
