The General Agent Growth Manager is based on the Small Business Sales team and is responsible for driving growth in the 2-50 space by maximizing our General Agent distribution channel. The General Agent Growth Manager drives medical and specialty sales to customers in the 1-100 (or more depending on the market) employee range. The role manages all aspects of the GA relationships for in state and out-of-state business. GA partnerships are critical to the success of the 2-50 segment and represents anywhere from 20-80% of our sales depending on the market.
A successful GA Growth Manager will need to strategically and methodically manage a large list of General Agencies to educate, train, and support GA partners to drive new business growth and persistency in partnership with the SBS AE and RAE. This role will be performed remotely and is not a telemarketing position. This role will require a tactical and motivated sales professional.
In this role, the GA AE will be accountable for and have oversight of all GA relationships in a market. The AE will be responsible for building relationships with assigned agencies, driving GA specific sales initiatives, educating agents on UHC programs and processes, monitoring growth metrics, holding their GAs accountable for results as well as meeting and exceeding sales targets and activity metrics. Successful AEs will be able to demonstrate profound market knowledge and sales acumen, be analytical, business plan execution and excellent relationship building skills.
This position follows a hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build, manage, and maintain oversight of all General Agency relationships in a market
- Lead contract negotiations where necessary in collaboration with internal national GA contacts as well as SBS and health plans
- Understand, effectively communicate, and educate GA partners of portfolio changes, requiring knowledge of medical and specialty products within both fully insured and level funded offerings
- Ensure that we are effectively connected to GA technology solutions to drive growth
- Present market data and results to health plan and GA leadership, including competitor intelligence, pipeline activity and forecasting
- Knowledgeable about market competition and trends, conducts competitive market analysis and consults on findings
- Leverage technology to build and manage effective, consultative relationships that drive sales activity
- Maintain and cultivate sound internal relationships with matrix partners including National GA teams, SBS and health plans
- Accurate reporting of activity and results through multiple sales tools and CRM
- Subject matter expert and point of escalation for GA issues, including the broker portal
- Maintain inventory of forms, marketing materials, and pricing grids to ensure they are up-to-date and readily available to agents and sales teams
- Requires professional presentation skills both in-person and remotely
- Motivated to proactively engage and seek training opportunities to maintain success in current role
- Be willing to work remotely and in General Agent offices to help solidify relationships

Required Qualifications:
- Sales insurance license must be maintained as required by state law and/or willingness to obtain upon hire
- 5+ years of employee benefit experience and/or sales experience in a complex sales environment (health care industry preferred)
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SalesForce CRM)
- Proven excellent communication/presentation skills
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel up 50% for business purposes
- Commutable distance to Dallas, San Antonio, Austin or Houston

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $60,000 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
