The Protective Intelligence Analyst, Risk Intelligence is a member of UnitedHealth Group’s (UHG) Corporate Security Risk Intelligence Team, with a dedicated focus on supporting the Executive Protection division. The Corporate Security group ensures the safety and resilience of the company’s global workforce and physical assets through comprehensive security risk management programs. The analyst will report to the Director of Risk Intelligence, while providing direct intelligence support to the VP, Executive Protection, within the Enterprise Security & Resilience Office.

This role is responsible for leading protective intelligence efforts that are relevant to UHG’s executive leadership, Board of Directors, and other designated high-profile personnel. The analyst will monitor, assess, and report on threats such as targeted violence, stalking, social media aggression, hostile surveillance, criminal activity, terrorism, insider threats, and threats specific to high-profile individuals. They will develop and deliver both tactical and strategic protective intelligence products to inform the Executive Protection Team planning and operations for travel, events, and daily activities worldwide.

Qualified candidates must demonstrate advanced experience in intelligence analysis, executive risk management, and collaboration within complex, global organizations. The role requires the ability to forge and sustain strong internal and external partnerships, including with law enforcement, intelligence community members, and specialized vendors. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is discretion in handling sensitive information.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.    For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance protective intelligence governance, frameworks, and processes to build and mature the overall intelligence program
  • Monitor risks such as targeted violence, stalking, online aggression, surveillance, crime, terrorism, insider threats, and vulnerabilities specific to high-profile individuals
  • Prepare and deliver protective intelligence products, such as real-time alerts, travel risk advisories, special event and itinerary assessments, and strategic threat reviews to support pre-planning, operations, and crisis response
  • Identify and communicate emerging risks, threat actors, and vulnerabilities, providing actionable intelligence to the Executive Protection Team and internal stakeholders
  • Support critical incident notification processes, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of threat intelligence
  • Deliver intelligence briefings to executive leadership, Board members, and senior security management
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with law enforcement, government agencies, and third-party intelligence providers to enhance protective intelligence capabilities and response
  • Support the maintenance and optimization of intelligence analysis tools, workflows, and methodologies for high standards of threat detection and analysis

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in intelligence analysis, executive protection intelligence, or threat management roles within a private and/or public sector setting with a focus on identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to high-visibility executives
  • Demonstrated success by operating in complex, global, matrixed organizations, coordinating with cross-functional partners (Cyber, HR, Legal, Corporate Communications, etc.) to ensure unified risk visibility and response
  • Proven ability to deliver high-impact intelligence products, including threat assessments, travel risk advisories, and executive-specific risk summaries, resulting in measurable improvements in executive safety posture and decision-making
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a record of briefing C-suite executives and senior security leadership on emerging threats, incident trends, and actionable recommendations; skilled in crafting concise daily/weekly intel summaries and strategic risk dashboards
  • Solid analytical acumen, demonstrated through the ability to synthesize multi-source intelligence (open source, social media, law enforcement, vendor feeds) into prioritized threat matrices and early-warning indicators that reduced executive exposure by measurable percentages or incidents
  • Proven discretion and integrity in handling highly sensitive, confidential, and personally identifiable information (PII), ensuring compliance with corporate privacy and legal standards in all intelligence products
  • Technical proficiency with intelligence analysis tools as well as experience applying threat assessment frameworks and protective security technologies (travel tracking, geofencing, incident alerting)
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing executive risk collection plans, establishing key performance indicators (e.g., threat detection time, incident resolution rates, or intelligence product delivery SLAs) to assess program maturity and impact

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
