Optum Community programs focus on offering our members and guests a diverse array of physical, intellectual, social, and emotional wellness activities. It is the goal of this group to keep our members active at whatever their functional capacity with classes and individual exercise programs. The Fitness Instructor should have a passion and drive for health, wellness and fitness and should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This position is Per Diem, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 4-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am – 12:00pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.
This will be on the job training and the hours during training will be 8:00am to 12:00pm PST, Monday – Friday.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interact with participants to create a welcoming atmosphere
- Ensure activities are scheduled to meet the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs of participants
- Lead activities and classes as needed
- Motivate clients
- Maintain safe environment
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent experience
- Silver Sneakers Fundamentals of Teaching certification and Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program Leader certification by hire date
- CPR or BLS Certification by hire date
- Must be 18 years of age OR older
- Experience with computers and experience in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00am – 12:00PM PST
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 – $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
