The Senior Director of Governance and Delivery at Optum Bank plays an important role in overseeing the initiative intake process for the organization, ensuring that projects are evaluated, prioritized, and managed effectively from start to finish.
This position will be accountable for driving the successful project management and delivery of multiple strategic projects, while continuously advancing the organization’s project delivery framework to support long-term growth and operational excellence. In addition to leading project execution, the Director contributes to the development and refinement of governance materials for board and management committee meetings, promoting robust oversight and transparent communication at the highest levels.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, this role is instrumental in facilitating efficient business operations, maintaining strict compliance standards, minimizing organizational risk, and embedding best-in-class project management practices throughout the organization. The Director collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to align initiatives with business objectives, optimize resource allocation, and ensure seamless coordination across departments.
Role to sit in or near the Twin Cities, MN
For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with various stakeholders across the organization to deliver strategic initiatives
- Manage project intake, infrastructure buildout, and resource alignment
- Assist with bank governance related materials for board meetings and management committee meetings
- Prepare executive materials and ensure transparent communication with business leaders
- Maintain awareness of current and upcoming projects within organizational strategy
- Lead or participate in meetings; update relevant documentation
- Provide expertise in scope definition, risk assessment, methodologies, and resource planning
- Communicate risks or issues to senior management promptly
- Support growth initiatives and project management delivery efforts
- Develop program plans, track progress, and measure outcomes
- Maintain thorough records of metrics, goals, decisions, and risks
- Proactively resolve issues and remove barriers to meet deadlines
- Address complex problems and analyze downstream impacts
- Report delivery status and financials to leadership, identifying risks/issues early
- Collaborate across teams to ensure effective planning and quality outcomes
- Participate in business planning and strategy sessions

Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in execution/operations management, including 3+ years leading projects and engaging with senior leadership
- 5+ years of experience managing projects, governance, and intake processes, successfully prioritizing work based on ROI, compliance, and strategic commitments
- 3+ years of banking project management and delivery experience
- Experience in developing executive presentations for bank boards or the like
- Proven operational, project, and change management skills

- Willingness to travel and adapt work schedule as needed
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
