Primary Responsibilities:
- Support and troubleshoot remote site and data center networks consisting of Cisco routers and switches, Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls, Meraki SDWAN, and Citrix NetScalers
- Ticket and project-based work intake for network design, implementation, and troubleshooting
- Participate and contribute in low- and high-level design discussions, review and add to implementation plans, and review and add to acceptance test plans
- Participate in the change management process to ensure all work is properly authorized and documented
- Perform maintenance, support, and troubleshoot network equipment, including hardware installs and software upgrades
- Be comfortable in unknown environments, taking a consultative approach to resolving complex issues
- Collaborate with other engineers and support teams
- Be familiar with business partner and Optum configuration standards and process requirements
- Implement and enforce security procedures to ensure the Company’s data is secure and accessed by only those that need access to it
- Create and maintain documentation in relation to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records

Proactively evaluate network performance, identify bottlenecks, and find ways of improvement, to ensure long-term efficiency of the network
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in a Network Engineering role (Cisco, etc.)

5+ years of knowledge of core networking concepts and routing protocols (Vlans, VRFs & VPNs, EIGRP, OSPF & BGP)
- 5+ years of experience with logical design models (L2/L3, Spanning tree, VRF, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling)
- 3+ years of experience with configuration and troubleshooting Firewalls (Palo Alto preferred) and Load Balancers (Netscaler or F5 preferred)
- 2+ years of experience with Virtualization, and Application Centric Infrastructure
