We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join the Rebates Modernization team within OptumRx. This role is critical to our transformation journey, helping modernize and own our Service level objectives, reliability and scalability of our applications.  The engineer will play a key role in ensuring the stability and integrity of our new Data and compute platforms on Hyperscale and Data Bricks in Azure and be responsible for ensuring the application functionality is fully tested, verified and validated.

We are looking for Proactive and self-motivated individuals with the ability to quickly learn the business, data model and data table structures behind the RxMax Application. Apply solid analytical skills to explore complex datasets, and gain a deep understanding of system functionality.

This candidate will be involved in hands-on testing, consulting and responsible for working with the business teams and developers/engineers for requirement gathering, solutioning and ensuring that functionality is verified and validated.

Ideal Candidate should have:

  • Demonstrated and applied understanding of modern development methodologies and tools to develop, deploy and maintain impactful, high-value market solutions 
  • Understands underlying solution architecture of solution and aligns or adapts it to optimize for business needs
  • Possess breadth of knowledge spanning all bodies of technologies, e.g., databases, middleware, OS, etc.
  • Understand business objectives and how technology can optimize and enable solutions 
  • Focus on business value proposition & comply with enterprise security protocols
  • Understands and incorporates quality principles to ensure optimal performance, impact and experience

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Solid analytical capabilities are essential for success in this role
  • The ability to think critically and analyze data is a key requirement
  • Design, develop, reuse, and execute tests in multiple software lifecycles
  • Develop an in-depth system and application knowledge to provide higher test quality and coverage
  • Constantly evaluate and enhance the test strategy and approach
  • Collaborate as part of the scrum team in grooming user stories and development of acceptance criteria for the user stories
  • Ensure functional and non-functional acceptance criteria aligns to the business value statement
  • Champion, mentor and direct other engineers and business in test process best practices and quality engineering principles
  • Embrace continuous learning to ensure industry’s best practices and technology adoption
  • Serves as a recognized expert for the RxMax Application
  • Be able to efficiently perform SQL queries against large billion row tables to be able to understand the data behind processes in RxMax
  • Provides guidance, troubleshoots and answers complex questions related to the features and processes of the RxMax Application
  • Recognized as the «go to» person when it comes to understanding the RxMax Application functionality, both with development teams and the business teams
  • Look for opportunities to automate testing based on the functionality  
  • Identifies and communicates enterprise-wide impact of internal and external issues 
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across the data engineering infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance testing for data driven systems, (including validation of data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability across pipelines and reports)
  • 4+ years of experience performing data analysis in support of QA activities, (such as test execution, source to target validation, reconciliation, and defect investigation)
  • 3+ years of experience using SQL and scripting languages to develop test queries, automate data validation checks, and identify data quality defects
  • 2+ years of experience testing and validating data pipelines built on high availability database systems (e.g., Hyperscale), including regression, performance, and failure scenario testing
  • 2+ years of experience working in Azure environments, with hands on responsibility for validating cloud based data solutions, integrations, and deployments
  • Solid expertise in analyzing QA test results, identifying data quality issues and performance bottlenecks, and documenting defects, root causes, and recommendations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SQL, Java, JavaScript OR Python programming languages  
  • Knowledge & Exposure in AI, GenAI, LLMs, GPT4.0
  • Familiarity with streaming technologies and modern data platforms
  • Exposure to the healthcare industry

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
