This is an independent, collaborative position responsible for supporting the strategic sourcing, and contracting, and value analysis process aimed at reducing clinical and non-clinical non-labor expense. This position reports to the Director of Sourcing and Contracting and is responsible for managing assigned contracts, analyzing contract data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential cost savings. This individual will be accountable for partnering with various stakeholders and supporting sourcing initiatives that uncover opportunities for cost reduction and standardization, support business strategies and improve performance and quality. The individual will provide leadership to collaborative teams and department representatives engaged in contract sourcing initiatives and the value analysis process.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages and fosters collaborative relationships with all stakeholders and teammates
- Reviews current and existing contracts to identify contract expirations and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders(s) to determine contract renewal disposition
- Research market trends and stakeholder requirements to source, select and partner with vendors
- Partners with customers and teams to ensure full understanding of customer needs to deliver outstanding customer service
- Serves on and/or supports Value Analysis or other committees to improve operational effectiveness and efficiencies
- Prepares, maintains and monitors sourcing and contracting processes in accordance with published policies and procedures
- Prepares for and executes clear, structured negotiations following pre-defined Strategic Sourcing methodology
- Manages relationships with vendors at level commensurate with position; arranges business reviews with key suppliers to evaluate supplier performance and develop action plans to resolve issues
- Partners with legal representatives to ensure that contracts are written in compliance with applicable federal, state and local statutes and regulations.
- Utilizes tools (e.g., Spend analytics, technology assessment, quote analysis and market insight) to maintain knowledge of market landscape and customer challenges
- Tracks projects on a weekly basis and meets project deadlines
- Responsible for negotiation, initiation, and composition of supplier agreements and contracts as a fiduciary agent and steward of the health systems’ resources, including effective management of contractual related risks
- Analyzes proposals based on total cost to identify opportunities to achieve optimal value
- Supports management of spend by category (Category Management) for commodities used by multiple service lines and provider organizations. Manages total value of goods, service and outcomes
- Conducts opportunity assessments to identify savings and/or cost avoidance opportunities, works with contracting and value analysis staff to analyze supplier-spend data and process metrics to proactively recommend improvements
- Meets established KPIs, to include contract compliance and savings targets
- Proactively identifies and supports savings opportunities using the supply chain value analysis process
- Proactively seeks out solutions to problems
- Engages in various operational responsibilities to support department and organization
- Adheres to governmental and industry specific regulations/laws. Maintains current knowledge of organization’s policies and procedures
- Provides prompt and effective service to internal and external customers
- Records, maintains, distributes, and prepares documents or information
- Develops budgetary goals and/or is mindful of financial performance targets
- Maintains a safe environment for healthcare workers, patients, and/or visitors complying with health system policies and procedures
- Attends education sessions, workshops, and other continuing education opportunities to enhance or gain new skills
- Developing and maintaining processes, tools, and training resources
- Responsible for developing rebate tracking tools (leveraging ERP solution when appropriate)
- Works with members of the team or department in an effective and efficient manner; shares knowledge and serves as a resource in a team environment
- Communicates effectively in both oral and written form, as appropriate for the needs of the audience
- Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of information, including patient, personnel, and organizational data/records
- Compiles, analyzes, and interprets data per business needs
- Assists with staff education and training as appropriate
- Identifies and advocates for improvement to processes within the department and organization when identified
- Performs other duties as assigned or required

Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of enterprise level relevant professional experience
- 3+ years of experience in Health System Supply Chain management as a strategic sourcing and procurement professional
- 3+ years of experience and advanced skills in MS Excel analyzing large data sets
- Demonstrated advanced skills in other Microsoft products such as PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to support Eastern Time zone work hours
- Ability to travel 10% when required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6+ years of hospital operational and/or hospital cost reduction experience
- Infor ERP experience
- Proven advanced skills in project management activities

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
