As an Electronic Health Record SME, you will leverage your background and expertise in Epic or Cerner systems to act as a primary advisor between end-users, project team members and other information technology resources. Your guidance and insights will be instrumental in shaping transformation healthcare solutions. Applicants should have expertise in multiple modules and can inform best practice and have demonstrated ability to build team knowledge and new capabilities.

Working Arrangements 

This role supports the relocation to Letterkenny to those residing outside of Ireland and is open to sponsorship  

While our typical working hours would align to Irish business hours, individual client needs may require ad-hoc after-hours calls. In some cases, the ability to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation may also be required. 

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland. Applicants will have the opportunity to work a hybrid work week with 3 days in the office and 2 from home. 

Primary responsibilities of the EHR Subject Matter Expert (Epic/Cerner):   

  • Lead medium to large complexity Epic software upgrade initiatives or enhancements to workflows including the design, build, and test phases 

  • Provide Epic product function, design, build, and testing expertise and experience for assigned Epic module(s) 

  • Collaborate with end users to design and build the Epic system in a timely and professional manner and make corrective configuration or enhancements 

  • Participate in design and validation sessions and ensure appropriate documentation, follow-up and issue escalation occurs 

  • Provide technical and/or clinical consultation including application configuration. Review, analyze, and evaluate system needs to develop recommendations for customers 

  • Serve as a mentor/subject matter expert to local and client-based team members 

  • Facilitate best practice and/or knowledge sharing sessions for the local team to enable growth of existing and the creation of new capabilities 

  • Perform in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software 

  • Facilitate communication with stakeholders from initial requirements to final implementation

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience of Epic or Cerner systems

  • Active / current Epic or Cerner certification in at least one area and experience in other modules (Including the ability to lead out multiple medium or a large-scale projects for your organization)

  • Direct client healthcare domain knowledge such as clinical documentation workflow, patient portal, closing encounters, and patient flow 

  • Ability to take on a new application or project area with proven success  

  • Experience managing application specific work plans at the resource and task level 

  • Experience influencing best practice by acting in the capacity of a formal mentor or capability leader

     

     
    Preferred qualifications:   

  • Knowledge and experience using basic and intermediate project management tools and techniques

  • Ability to communicate tactfully and work effectively with patients, physicians, vendors and system staff at all levels 

  • Capable to lead and work well in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team 

  • Experience in one of the following modules: Springboard, MyChart, MyChart Bedside, Orders, Clin Doc, Welcome, Hello World, Healthy Planet and/or Care Everywhere
