The Underwriter will analyze health benefit plan characteristics through case risk evaluation, and product pricing. They will utilize established underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. This Underwriter will represent and negotiate fees/rates and plan options to optimize cost-competitive health benefit plans. They will utilize pricing models to assist in the economic analysis of new business and renewal customers.

 

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. A hybrid work arrangement is preferred. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather data for medical and pharmacy benefits from various source systems
  • Utilize pricing tools to prepare customer experience projections, premiums, and fees
  • Apply detailed underwriting analysis to provide appropriate rating consistent with underwriting guidelines, and assess risk to determine pricing
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with sales partners and operational areas
  • Collaborate and negotiate with internal/external partners regarding price, contractual terms, and/or guarantees
  • Support proposal development team in completing request for proposals
  • Prepare year end customer account reconciliations

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of work experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite products

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of Fully-Insured Underwriting experience in healthcare industry
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Effective negotiation skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
