Reliant Medical Group in Worcester has an opening for a full-time Breast Biopsy Procedure Coordinator. This position offers great compensation, full benefits, 401k match, paid holidays, and weekday hours within a positive and caring environment that delivers outstanding patient care and compassion.

Hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. No evenings, weekends, or holidays. 

Location: 5 Neponset Street, Worcester, MA

Primary Responsibilities:
The Breast Biopsy Procedure Coordinator works closely with radiologists, technologists, and other staff, delivering direct patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after breast biopsy procedures. The ideal candidate will be essential in providing a safe, efficient and supportive experience for our patients, while supporting our medical team by performing the following duties:

  • Preparing and handling supplies and equipment to maintain an aseptic environment through a system of specific techniques and practices during all procedures
  • Maintaining the highest standard of sterile technique during procedure. Passing instruments, etc. to the radiologist and technologist during the procedure. Anticipating the needs of the radiologist, technologist, and patient during the procedure
  • Maintaining equipment and supply levels, sterilizing/cleaning of instruments and equipment
  • Assisting in the cleaning and stocking of procedure rooms, preparing for the next patient
  • Properly caring for specimens and processing pathology orders and chain of custody as needed
  • Maintaining appropriate logs and records
  • Explaining procedure to patient at onset of visit, assuring patient is properly prepared for the procedure 
  • Explaining proper post-biopsy care instructions and answering any patient questions surrounding the next steps in resulting and care
  • Performing reminder and follow-up wellness calls to patients
  • Complying with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, ACR, etc. 
  • Complying with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Attending a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed
  • Performing other similar and related duties as required or directed

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant certification or Surgical Technology degree from an accredited program
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Knowledge of a variety of software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Radiology experience
  • Experience with Epic and/or Hologic breast imaging equipment
  • Proven exceptional patient care/customer service skills
  • Proven excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
