Remote Physician Advisor- part time
Coverage spans from 6 pm- 3 am EST M-Fr One Monday off per 4-week cycle replaced by SA or SU 6 pm-3 am with set schedules based on business needs to provide adequate staffing of all shifts. There is a shared responsibility for weekend and Holiday coverage by all Physician Advisors.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Promote efficient and effective clinical care of hospitalized patients delivered in a timely, appropriate and cost-effective fashion as guided by evidenced based medicine and regulatory requirements via review of clinical documentation, collaborative telephonic communication and other interactions with hospital client Case Managers and Attending Physicians
- Promote payor and provider adherence to all applicable regulatory standards and CMS policy regarding inpatient admissions, observation/outpatient status, and the appropriate status for continued hospital stays
- Provide in-depth clinical expertise in the management of specific patient populations to effectively manage length of stay for hospital clients by discussing documented concern and plan of care with treating physicians as it relates to utilization review
- Meet performance and quality metrics while incorporating feedback from quality improvement reports and providing exceptional customer service
- Function as a vital aspect of a team consisting of other Physician Advisors, Nurses, Administrative Assistants, Clinical Relationship Managers, and Team Leaders with prompt responses to requests for assistance from any members of that team
- Performing all applicable administrative tasks, staying abreast of internal policies/procedures, regulatory changes and updates within the business segment, and completing mandatory UHG and Optum Physician Advisor Solutions Learn Source and education modules

Required Qualifications:
- MD or DO
- Current, unrestricted medical license in state of residence
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with medical staff and hospital leadership
- Proven solid computer skills and working knowledge of EMRs
- Ability to work remotely between the hours of 6 pm- 3 am EST, M-F with weekend rotation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Eligible
- 3+ years of experience in a hospital-based practice setting
- Proven solid organization and communication skills
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated team player mentality
- Proven solid clinical knowledge base
- Proven superior documentation skills
- Demonstrated computer proficiency
- Ability to have meaningful and informed conversations with Case Managers and Attending Physicians

For the full-time and part-time MCO012- Physician Advisor reqs, please use $124,500 – $239,400 for the pay transparency (job posting) salary range. To maintain a consistent pay transparency approach, the range should not be adjusted to reflect part-time status. The job posting language now includes language that clarifies the range disclosed is based on full-time status.
The salary range for this role is $124,500 – $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Salary Range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement.
