The Home & Community Strategy team is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and testing opportunities to help Optum Home & Community meet the evolving needs of our members and sustain long-term growth.
As a Senior Associate Strategy & Innovation, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers to help drive strategies that can generate value and impact in a way that is aligned with our mission. You will be responsible for recommending strategic actions based on your assessment of competitive, member, and market forces, and through engagement with functional and subject matter experts (SME) across the enterprise. The role will require you to evaluate opportunities, including but not limited to business growth strategies (new markets / distribution channels), new products / capabilities, and inorganic growth (e.g., M&A). You will take a visible role in communicating opportunities and recommendations with stakeholders across functions, business units, and executive leadership. You will also have the opportunity to partner / lead initiatives to “test” your recommendations in-market.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Developing analytical business cases and opportunity assessments for strategic options, including financial and clinical considerations, buy vs. build options, market opportunity, level of effort, etc.
- Collaborating with functional leaders and SMEs across the organization, such as Sales, Growth, Analytics, business leads, product managers, and clinical leadership
- Identifying and evaluating growth opportunities, business model innovation, and supporting cross-business unit initiatives
- Partnering with leaders across the broader H&C Product & Strategy Team to “set the table” for successful testing and development of new initiatives
- Serving as a clearinghouse and reviewer of ideas from external entities (e.g., early-stage companies) as well as internally sourced ideas from enterprise stakeholder groups
- Contributing to strategic intelligence – e.g., market scans, industry trends – to contribute to business planning discussions

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience across roles in Strategy, Consulting, Banking or Investments, New Product Development, or related fields
- Proven solid problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Proven solid verbal and written communication skills, ability and comfort presenting to senior leadership, including at the C-suite level
- Proven to be thoughtful, analytical, and structured; effective in synthesizing and translating disparate inputs into cohesive recommendations and insights
- Proven to be extremely collaborative; proactive; high integrity; highly reliable
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare experience or demonstrated interest in healthcare sector
- Understanding of healthcare market dynamics and economics; experience with Medicare Advantage and/or value-based care

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
