The Project Accounting Team plays a vital role for ensuring the financial success of projects. It collaborates with different departments including Project management, Billing and Finance, providing insights based on Cost Analysis and Financial trends. The Team helps in Identifying financial risk and implementing mitigation strategies.
The Accounting Consultant will be responsible for cost tracking, monitoring and managing projects cost. Providing insights and validation on different strategies that can be used to compile Cost of Sales. Working closely with Program and Finance to ensure financial success of projects. Responsible for Revenue Recognition and Project Control.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts for month end close
- Prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications, in accordance with GAAP
- Reconcile Intercompany and Intracompany transactions
- Drives standardization and process improvement and contribute towards adding value to the business
- Drive variance analysis, and explanations on business performance while collaborating with cross-functional team members
- Assist with month end close process including preparing and analyzing Cost of Sales
- Assist with in preparing documentation in support of external and internal audits
- Perform ad hoc reporting and complex analysis; investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation
- Perform work in self-directed manner and work with less structured, more complex issues
- Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of effective internal and financial system controls, policies, and procedures
- Work with IT on system related initiatives, testing functionality and integrations for upgrades and enhancements
- May review work of team members for accuracy and alignment of work
- Analyzes complex financial data and summarize results and recommendations to management for decision making purpose

Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in professional accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience developing financial reports and metrics
- 3+ years of experience with SQL and Excel experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3+ years of Project Control / Project Accounting/ Finance experience
- Costpoint experience
- Experience identifying solutions to non-standard requests and problems
- Experience solving moderately complex problems and conducts moderately complex analyses
- Government Accounting Experience including experience with CAS and FAR and familiarity on Indirect Rate Pools
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Proven excellent analytical and data analysis skills
- Proven to be extremely detail oriented with high level of accuracy and sound judgement
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and complete multiple tasks, while continually meeting critical deadlines and responding to changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
