We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AS400 Synon professional with 7 to 9 years of experience to join our healthcare organization. The ideal candidate will be a development lead with a strong background in AS400 Synon and a willingness to learn and adapt to modernization efforts. The primary responsibilities of this role include development and support, troubleshooting, innovation, and ensuring the smooth functioning of our AS400 Synon systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of AS400 Synon applications within a healthcare organization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design robust solutions
  • Develop and implement enhancements and modifications to existing AS400 Synon applications
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for AS400 Synon systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
  • Actively participate in modernization initiatives, including the evaluation and adoption of new technologies
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to AS400 Synon and COBOL programming
  • Collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the organization
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in AS400 Synon development and support, preferably in a healthcare organization
  • Experience in leading development projects and managing teams
  • Solid knowledge of COBOL programming language.
  • Familiarity with modernization efforts and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for AS400 Synon systems
  • Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Proven solid analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
