The purpose of an ETL Developer is to design , Develop and maintain the data integration process that extract data from various sources , transform it into a usable format , and load into destination system such as a Data warehouse .
Key responsibilities include Extract data/Transform Data /Load Data /Optimize Performance /Ensure Data Quality /Automate Processes/Collaborate with Teams/Monitor and Troubleshoot.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Designing and Implementing ETL Processes: ETL developers are responsible for designing and implementing ETL processes to extract data from various source systems, transform it into a usable format, and load it into a data warehouse or data mart
- Data Extraction: They extract data from various sources, including databases, flat files, and other systems
- Data Transformation: They transform the extracted data by cleaning, validating, and converting it into a format suitable for analysis and reporting
- Data Loading: They load the transformed data into the target data warehouse or data mart
- Data Modeling: They develop logical and physical data flow models for ETL applications
- Data Quality: They ensure data consistency, accuracy, and quality throughout the ETL process
- Performance Tuning: They monitor and optimize ETL processes for performance, ensuring efficient data integration
- Troubleshooting and Debugging: They troubleshoot and debug ETL processes to identify and resolve issues
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate degree or equivalent experience
- Certifications in ETL tools, database management, or specific technologies (like AWS Certified Data Analytics or Microsoft Certified: Data Engineering on Azure) can enhance your qualifications
- Experience in data integration, ETL development, or data warehousing
- Databases: Experience with relational databases (SQL) and potentially NoSQL databases
- Project Management: Experience with project management methodologies and tools can be helpful for managing ETL projects
- SQL: Proficiency in SQL is crucial for querying and manipulating data
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or scripting languages (Shell, Perl) can be advantageous for automating ETL processes and integrating with external systems
- ETL Tools: Familiarity with standard ETL tools like Informatica is essential
- Data Modeling: Knowledge of data modeling principles and techniques is important for designing data warehouses
- Data Warehousing: Understanding data warehousing concepts, design, and architecture is key
- Analytical Skills: Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for debugging ETL processes and identifying data issues
- Communication and Collaboration: Proven effective communication and collaboration skills are important for working with stakeholders and understanding business requirements
Preferred Qualification:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, statistics, or a related field is general
