In this role, as a Communications Specialist your primary focus will be to provide ongoing planning, support, project management and reporting of quarterly employee meetings, employee emails, partner on enterprise initiatives and collaborate on ongoing communication strategy and plan activities. 

You have a minimum of two years’ experience in a communications-related industry.   You are curious, enjoy working with others, comfortable with ambiguity, change and a fast-paced environment, detail-oriented and love learning about new topics and connecting dots. You have excellent written and verbal communications skills. You thrive under pressure and can prioritize multiple tasks against objectives with ease.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing operational and content development support of employee meetings, including preparation, day of support and post-event reporting wrap up
  • Ongoing operational and content support of employee emails and intranet content, including content development, coordination, reviews and implementation
  • Partner closely with the channel team to carry out delivery of communication deliverables 
  • Analyze metrics for meetings, email campaigns and intranet content to compare against success measures and bring forward recommendations for improvements
  • Adhere to applicable internal and external communications standards established for the business (eg, internal style guides, AP style guides, communication industry standards) 
  • Input communications deliverables into a dynamic editorial calendar in partnership with communication colleagues
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate as part of an internal communications team
  • Support programs, initiatives and events that span the enterprise

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of communication and/or media industry experience
  • 2+ years of writing and editing experience in a communications role
  • 2+ years creating content for targeted and diverse audiences, with editorial mindset to seek how best to engage stakeholders driving them to action
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint (creating and editing slides), Word (creating and editing word documents), Excel (general spreadsheet navigation, data entry, sorting) and SharePoint (general use as a repository- posting, maintaining documents and videos)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts and communication colleagues
  • Experience interacting and consulting with business partners
  • Experience working with employee communications plans and publishing platforms (corporate intranet, SharePoint, social collaboration)
  • Knowledge and / or use of Associated Press Stylebook (for editing reference)
  • Proven project management skills to manage to multiple deadlines
  • Proven individual contributor who can manage both personal work and influence team initiatives
  • Proven high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables
  • Proven to be a self-starter with a profound sense of ownership and accountability, comfortable working alone or as part of a team of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to be flexible and comfortable while working with ambiguity
  • Proven excellent communication skills, with ability to convey complex topics in a clear and compelling manner

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
