Optum StepWise Automated Rating is a proprietary software platform that delivers centralized rate management, financial modeling, and automated quoting across products and lines of business. Its enterprise-level rate engine, block management tools, and underwriting application enhance financial management, improve sales channel responsiveness, and increase operational agility.

You will work directly on the StepWise implementations of our Group Risk Analytics and Portfolio Optimization products. This will include requirements gathering, solution design, StepWise software configuration, and testing. Ideal candidates will have a background in commercial healthcare combined with a solid technical aptitude and a desire to solve complex problems using cutting edge software tools.

Primary Responsibilities 

• Design and implement configurable software solutions tailored to healthcare workflows that meet business requirements
• Configure dynamic user experiences, workflow automation, business processes, rating algorithms, and factor tables using StepWise software
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to ensure high performance and data integrity
• Conduct unit testing of configured solutions
• Present solution designs and configurations to peers
• Learn, understand, and adhere to StepWise configuration best practices
• Assist in troubleshooting bugs and providing timely solutions and documentation
• Assist with requirements gathering and project scoping
• Assist with development of system integrations and API updates
• Manage a variety of issues while driving momentum of key projects
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other developers to ensure development meets requirements

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional experience working in the commercial healthcare industry 
• 3+ years in a technically focused role
• 2+ years of experience in SQL Server, including writing complex queries and managing relational data models
• 2+ years of experience in Microsoft Excel with at least the following: writing complex formulas and macros
• Proven solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with the StepWise suite
• Experience with user interface design and workflow automation
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure and/or Databricks
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Familiarity with XML and JSON

The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
