The Senior Vice President (SVP), Provider Sales and Market Performance Partnerships, will lead a team of experienced, disciplined, healthcare leaders to develop transformational partnerships with health systems, payers and providers.
The SVP, Provider and Market Performance Partnerships, will lead a team of sales experts that deeply understand clients’ challenges related to engaging consumers, modernizing infrastructure and advancing care. Specifically, the team will be called upon to develop and launch large, complex deals that span multiple functional areas and capabilities.
The Market Performance Partnerships team begins by understanding the client’s needs, then works collaboratively with business unit and product teams, operations leaders, finance and legal teams to design the tailored solution, develop the financial models, negotiate the agreements, and plan the transition to live operations. Throughout the process, the team partners closely with our clients to develop the strategy, develop commitment, and engage the client’s board of directors.
The SVP serves as the overall leader to develop qualified partnership opportunities into fully executed partnerships, leading all aspects of the pursuit once qualified. This role will work with sales on emerging opportunities to identify a scope of work, develop executive relationships, coordinate the design of a solution and negotiate contract framework and key terms in conjunction with business unit owners. This leader will lead Optum pursuit teams through scoping and solutioning stages, as well as through contracting and transition planning. The leader will drive deal close strategy and execution, as well as manage internal/external deal approvals and executive engagement.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Propose and advocate strategies to grow new revenue and expand the Optum Insight provider portfolio, targeting key growth areas to increase market share within the segment and grow the pipeline.
- Oversee all pricing, legal, communication, human capital and transitioning planning from delivery through contracting.
- Develop and maintain solid business relationships with executives and key decision makers.
- Ensure strategic collaboration, coordination and alignment within Business Units, Sales Teams, and Optum matrix partners to deliver on enhancing the client experience and NPS.
- Serve as an internal advisor, advocate, escalation point, and decision maker for a team of sales executives to optimize sales process and improve win rates.
- Work with sales leaders in support of deployment of adopted strategies, including but not limited to education/training, refining consultative messaging and quantifying impact on sales plan, etc.
- Provide weekly and accurate pipeline and forecast reports to Growth and Business leaders, as well as deal progression insights and key milestones.
- Be ‘In-Market’ frequently, meeting with clients and understanding client needs, attending industry conferences, and building personal relationships with clients’ leader peers.
- Research and analysis of market trends and competitive practices to ensure Sales strategy is placed in context of client’s industry and marketplace.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of experience in healthcare leadership roles within health systems or providers
- Experience leading large, multi-tiered and multimillion dollar sales negotiations
- Broad understanding of hospital operations and key performance metrics
- Detailed understanding of the Optum Provider Product Portfolio and ability to help team members align Optum capabilities with client needs across a wide range of solutions
- Solid network of healthcare executive relationships that can be leveraged
- Experience managing people in a hospital or healthcare vendor / consulting firm
- Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Ability to influence in a matrixed internal environment to achieve desired outcomes
- Serve as a conduit between Provider Clients and Optum Product leaders to identify new product opportunities and launch new solutions to solve complex challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and ability to tailor content and messaging to different audiences in a clear and engaging manner
- Self-motivated, self-aware, innovative, and organized
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or other post-graduate degree
