This position will report into the Director of Vendor Contracting & Management on the Clinical Excellence team within Optum Health and will be responsible for a portfolio of clinical vendors to achieve strategic business objectives and ensure contractual understanding between vendors and markets/regions while building and fostering business stakeholder relationships. Effective facilitation and communication with clinical and operational leadership, Clinical Excellence internal teams, market and external business partners is imperative.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Drives and manages the end-to-end vendor contracting management process for an assigned portfolio of clinical services vendors to include vendor evaluation and selection; advising, supporting, and ensuring contractual performance requirements, goals, measures, and all required assessment activities are completed 
  • Develops short and long-range program goals for assigned portfolio of vendors
  • Staying informed on performance against targets and enterprise goals/strategies
  • Identify opportunities to increase performance, consistency and/or synergies across assigned portfolio and portfolios across various businesses
  • Responsible for the overall execution of assigned requests while assuring key metrics and established SLAs are met 
  • Maintains data for dashboards and operational reporting
  • Coordinates and drives activity of cross functional teams (i.e. Security, Optum Tech, EP, etc) to support evaluation and contracting of assigned vendors
  • Responsible for vendor evaluation strategy for assigned portfolio of vendors
  • Provide support, direction, and oversight of business case development for assigned requests with heavy emphasis on influential leadership skillset
  • Serve as SME with working-level knowledge of assigned vendors programs and offerings
  • Ability to receive and express detailed information through oral and written communications

  • Ability to work within complex and multi-layer matrix org structure

Required Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience within clinical vendor/supplier contracting within managed care/health insurance industry
  • 1+ years of experience project/program management 
  • 1+ years of experience analytical skills with the ability to drive operational and financial/pricing strategy across varied stakeholders
  • Solid execution and accountability across multiple projects and programs
  • Familiarity with vendor sourcing and evaluation process including security/technology requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Smartsheet

 

Preferred Qualifications:     

  • Experience with clinically focused vendors in the managed care industry and preferably within Optum/UHG businesses
  • Familiarity with vendor sourcing and evaluation process including security/technology requirements
  • Proven desire and ability to build solid relationships across a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated visionary thinking and high level of emotional intelligence

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
