About the role:

 

The Pricing team is part of Optum Rx’s Dublin office and is a key contributor to shaping and enabling ever more sophisticated pricing strategies, helping the organization to maintain its competitiveness in winning new business and driving our market presence.

 

The team has a very strong technical, data and analytical capability which supports the bid life-cycle through developing tools to accelerate the current process, automation, reengineering and transformation of existing processes which affords underwriters more time on bid development and strategy. Its creative approach to problem solving enables us to develop solutions to move us up the sophistication curve and bring the power of data and analytics to bear on more aspects of the bid process.Its data driven, analytics enabled approach to informing bid development for new business enables the exploration of the bid landscape from the adjacent possible to transformative strategies.

Its analytical function works to interrogate historical bid data to extract informational and actionable insights which are consumed by our business partners from pre-sales to underwriters and executive leadership. Leveraging our strong business relationships these new tools and insights enable us to empower our business partners and collectively achieve our specific economic targets and plans.

The role will have direct line management responsibilities for a team of data analysts. The individual will be tasked with leading stakeholder engagement across the broader pricing function to identify project requirements, designing solutions to meet these and guiding a development/ analytical team to deliver against the solution. An action-biased, analytically curious mindset with a passion for delivering solutions to drive positive change in the business is key to this role.

 

Working Schedule:

This is a full-time position with standard working hours of Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

 Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Manager Data Analytics:

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand strategic requirements to inform your solutions/ delivery

  • Independently, or working with the team, develop data/ analytical-driven solutions to deliver tools/ analyses to meet requirements

  • Hands-on development of automated scalable, robust and well-structured analytical tools/ solutions

  • Be self-directed in interrogating data to shape your analyses

  • Recommend innovative ideas and/or procedures to improve existing strategies

  • Develop strong working relationships with key partners across the business

  • Present to audiences of varying organizational roles and hierarchy levels

  • Engage with and influence stakeholders to ensure solutions/ recommendations are integrated into the business and drive value

  • Work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a project team

  • People Management responsibilities

Required Qualifications of the Senior Manager Data Analytics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience (mathematics, physics, engineering, finance, economics, etc)

  • Extensive experience in analytical roles using SQL and at least one procedural language eg. Python, R

Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Manager Data Analytics:

  • Experience creating visualizations using Tableau or similar, to tell a compelling story with data and effectively deliver actionable insights

  • Experience in managed health care or pharmacy benefit management

  • Experience in Spark/ MS Azure

  • Experience working with transactional data

  • Competency evaluating existing business processes, designing, communicating, planning and effecting change

     

     

    Soft Skills of the Senior Manager Data Analytics:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, a strong work ethic, and demonstrated teamwork skills

  • Highly motivated, change/innovation agent and self-starter

  • Ability to take ownership, function independently and effectively within teams and in a self-directed environment

  • Strong communication skills, able to work with stakeholders from multiple levels and disciplines

  • Ability to influence others and achieve common goals
