The Senior Vice President, Supply Chain & Logistics provides executive leadership for end-to-end supply chain, logistics, and automation capabilities across OptumRx Pharmacy Care Services (PCS). This role is accountable for developing and executing strategies that enable a scalable, resilient, and cost-effective pharmacy network while supporting growth, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and improved consumer experience.

This leader will oversee all aspects of pharmacy supply chain which includes procurement, inventory management & optimization, distribution & logistics, drug shortage & risk management, vendor management, strategic planning & pharmacy network design.  The SVP will operate across a highly matrixed org by partnering closely with Pharmacy Operations, IT, Finance, Product, Quality, Regulatory, and Enterprise Services to ensure OptumRx’s pharmacy footprint and supply continuity are positioned for both current performance and long-term growth.

Hybrid in MN/DC: This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set and execute enterprise strategy for Supply Chain & Logistics across OptumRx, aligning capabilities to business growth, service, quality, regulatory, and financial objectives

  • Lead procurement, logistics, demand and supply planning, drug and prescriber file management, and equipment maintenance across a complex, multi-site pharmacy network

  • Own and drive pharmacy footprint/location strategy across the PCS portfolio, including network design, capacity planning, site selection, expansions, and new pharmacy builds

  • Advance and sustain globalized procurement strategies, optimizing supplier performance, cost leverage, supply continuity, and risk mitigation

  • Lead enterprise supply chain risk and resilience strategies, including continuity planning, disruption mitigation, and supplier risk management

  • Partner closely with Quality, Regulatory, and Compliance teams to ensure supply chain operations are audit-ready and aligned with regulatory requirements

  • Drive data- and analytics-enabled decision-making, including performance metrics, forecasting, and continuous improvement across supply chain and logistics functions

  • Operate effectively within a highly matrixed organization, influencing senior leaders and aligning cross-functional teams to deliver integrated, enterprise solutions

  • Lead financial stewardship, including operating budgets, multi-year capital planning, ROI-based investment decisions, and performance outcomes

  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team, drive talent development, succession planning, and a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

  • Represent OptumRx in key external partnerships and supplier relationships, strengthening enterprise capabilities and market positioning

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, operations, logistics within large-scale, complex environments

  • Demonstrated success leading multi-site or network-based operations

  • Deep experience in supply chain strategy, procurement, logistics, fulfillment, and supplier management

  • Proven ability to lead logistics and technology-enabled operations, including capital planning and digital transformation initiatives

  • Solid capability to operate, collaborate and influence within a matrixed enterprise environment

  • Experience with facility network design and long-range capacity planning

  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, capital investments, and enterprise performance outcomes

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field

  • Healthcare, pharmacy, or regulated industry experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
