In this role, you’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* (if you can make it into a Boston, MA location) as you take on some tough challenges. The role will focus on developing communications and training content that will be shared with the provider network, internal and external business partners. All with an eye toward ensuring we are getting the right information to the right providers at the right time to drive their engagement and action on key initiatives. The goal is to improve how we’re communicating with them and how we work with internal staff.
As a Network Communications Specialist, you’ll be a part of the Network Team within Optum Behavioral Health. You’ll have a direct impact on the relationship our 300,000+ providers have with us. By helping ensure providers receive clear, concise, applicable, and actionable information, we can make it easier for them to provide quality care to our members and complete the administrative tasks that go together with delivering that care.
Exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. You’ll build strong relationships with business stakeholders, communications team, and Provider Relations leaders to create accurate, informative content frameworks and guidelines that drive consistency and clarity to our provider network.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Network Programs Director to create content for provider portal, provider education forums, and other provider communications
- Help facilitate discussions with internal stakeholders and business partners across the enterprise to meet provider-centric awareness and communication needs
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to simplify and streamline the provider communications experience. Analyze data to draw insights and make recommendations for future communications. Identify gaps and opportunities in the provider communication process and workflows, including resolving any technical, operational, and organizational challenges
- Provider education and outreach regarding policies, processes, and ease of use of our provider self-service portal, provider express
- Delivery of external provider training and education programs either in-person, virtually or through larger external provider events
- Collaborate on resource planning and the development of guidelines and criteria to ensure communication and training efforts meet provider needs and support business goals
- Ensure that communication, training, and education programs are strategic and meet content, brand, and quality standards
- Serve as key resource on complex issues and assignments

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of provider relations/network experience
- 3+ years interpreting Medicare and Medicaid regulations, Public Health notices, and Department of Insurance notices, and regulator publications
- 3+ years of training experience
- Provider relations network experience at the facility and professional level
- Knowledge of Massachusetts Medicaid plans and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Proven presentation, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information in a variety of different formats to all levels of leadership
- Proven aptitude for managing multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence internal and external business partners

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
